Hi every one

My 2 year old show line male keeps his eye on the helper, agitator, even after he throws the sleeve away from him.
He keeps his eyes on him, even when someone else picks up the sleeve.  Will he out grow this with training?

Is this a joke?

You don't want a dog fixated on the sleeve.  It's better that he's focused on the man.

No,its not a joke,why would it be?

An hour afer the training session,my dog will try to engage the helper sitting at the picnic table,
when I walk by to go to my vehicle.

You've got an obedience training issue, not a protection training issue.

It sounds like a training and/or nerve issue. You want the dog to fixate on the threat, not the prey object.  However the dog should not try to engage people (even the helper) that are not being threatening, IMO.  My male is also a show line and doesn't care about the sleeve one bit.  His foundation has taught him to respond to a threat, and that the way to neutralize the threat is to bite the sleeve.  But beyond that, he is not object or prey oriented.  He does not bark at a sleeve, only at the helper.  However when we are not doing protection and there is no threat, the helper can pet my dog and do obedience with him with no problems.  The helper is just another person (and my dog is social and likes people), unless there is agitation and a threat.

Actually I dont have an obediance problem with him at all.

If I have him heeling beside  me in heel posion, he will not try to engage the helper at any time  or place, even if he is being agitated.

I guess I am confused about the problem then, if he is NOT trying to engage the helper outside of protection, but during protection IS trying to engage the helper and not the sleeve...  Does he not bite the sleeve at all? If not, he needs to learn that biting the sleeve is what neutralizes the threat.
