I have a dog from the infamous Houserhaus G litter out of Max van Tiekerhook and Adrie vom Bibelenfeld
( http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/516371.html) .  This is the litter where Lorenzo Williams took off with money without issuing the registration papers.

I submitted my USA scorebook application with the dogs full name, Gildo vom Houserhaus, and received the scorebook with just the name "Gildo". I questioned USA about changing the name I submitted and was told that "mixed" breed dogs can only have one-word names in the scorebook and kennel names aren't allowed. I can't find any USA regulation that prevents me from putting in any name that I want for my scorebook. I know I have seen mixed breeds with multi-word names under the trial results in the USA magazine - this doesn't seem right to me.

It seems that USA does not want to have a kennel name in the scorebook of a "mixed" breed dog. Has anyone had this issue? If I can ever resolve the issues and get Gildo's registration papers, they did say I could pay to have a new scorebook issued with GSD.

I have to double check but when I registered my old male ACD with USA 8 years ago I was too lazy to attach his AKC papers so he is registered as a mix but his AKC registered name is what is listed in his scorebook.

Many of the results list a dog as "mixed" simply because of registration issues; they are not really "mixed" breed at all. I, too, have seen dogs with kennel names delineated as "mixed" (due to registration issues?). In any event, have you considered the notoriety of the Williams/Helsers/Richards may be part of the issue?

I'm sorta in the same boat but for a breeder who neglected to issue registration papers. In my case, I refuse to acknowlege this breeder until if and when I receive papers so I would have chosen to omit thier kennel name anyway. I'm not defending USA's actions but without proof of registration and parantage how could they verify that Lorenzo was actually the breeder and justify adding his kennel name to your scorebook?

Good luck.

After hitting a roadblock using e-mail, I called the USA office to try to understand the rules regarding dog names in mixed breed scorebooks.

It turned out that what I was being told about a rule prohibiting "mixed" dogs having a kennel name wasn't a rule after all - it is a "golden rule" that they follow.   They begrudgingly agreed that I can put any name I want in my scorebook - a new book was sent last week.
