LINESVILLE -- State police are investigating the deaths of a man and woman found Sunday at a residence near Linesville.

Crawford County Coroner Pat McHenry called the incident "a double death under suspicious circumstances."
The names of the husband and wife weren't being released Sunday night, McHenry said. Autopsies on both were scheduled to be performed today in Erie by Dr. Eric Vey, Erie County's forensic pathologist.
McHenry declined to comment on what might have caused their deaths or what, if any, wounds they suffered.
He said investigators were still trying to determine when the couple died.
"The autopsy will help some," he said.
The coroner said state police at Meadville were handling the case.
Police on Sunday night weren't providing any information on what was discovered at the house on Wheeler Road, near Pymatuning State Park and about two miles from the Pennsylvania-Ohio border. A trooper at the Meadville barracks wouldn't confirm that anything had happened there.
McHenry said the female victim's mother had been to the house Saturday and was alarmed, upon returning Sunday morning, to find that items she had left hadn't been moved. Her daughter also hadn't responded to her calls, the coroner said. The mother got a friend to enter the house, and the daughter was found dead in one of the rooms, McHenry said.
A German shepherd was protecting the woman's body, and the dog bit a neighbor who entered the house, McHenry said. He said the Crawford County Humane Society had to be called in to remove the dog.
The coroner and police were able to start their investigation once the animal had been removed, McHenry said.
He said they then found the husband's body in a detached garage.

Wow, I'm surprised this story got read by someone in my neck of the woods....I actually was the breeder of this dog. I since have retained ownership of him after a very trying and costly ordeal.
He is wonderful and remembered both my husband and I immediately. We raised him til he was 9 months old. The shelter people told me he was "vicious and no one but 1 woman could get near him" so I was expecting Cujo...well let me tell you as soon as he took one look at us he went crazy whinning and licking us to death. I turned to them and said "some killer vicious dog you got here" lol
We bought him home after him licking us to pieces in the car for 2 hrs and he walked into our home like he never left. No dog aggression with my other dogs and he LOVES LOVES LOVES the kids.
He is my husbands shadow. He's staying here forever. We love this big boy!

Agar I'm so glad to hear the dog was not destroyed and he is doing well. He deserves a great home after this tragedy.
I'm so glad they did not shoot the dog. Did you know these people?

Yes it most certainly is. This dog is very special to me now. I understand he's been through a horrific and traumatic experience but it has not effected who he is. He's a very loving dog and I think that he will be just fine now.
