How does your dog do it? Does your dog remember "old" friends and act accordingly? Mine sure does.

If Drake sees or smells anyone he know and likes, he starts to prance and whine.  He can smell my kids (or maybe hear them?) when they pull up out on the street.  That's how I know they're here, long before they get to the door.  And if the grandchildren are here, I can't even hear through the whining and yipping!

Georgia definitely knows people she has met before.  If we're meeting a new person, she is very alert and calm and will wait before deciding if she likes them or not.  But with people she knows and likes, she gets really excited and wiggly when she hears them pull into the driveway.

The rare person that she doesn't like, she will remain on alert until they're gone.

My little girl loves this one person in our club, every time she see her she goes nuts.  She dose this thing were she nips her hands and jumps up on her.  She gets out of control.  This is the only person that she behaves this way with.

Jami remembers people that she likes too. There are a few that she just does not dig so we just say hello and keep on walking.
Always,

I swear I can hear mine screaming, "Where have you BEEN all this time!" Then he'll forget his manners and gets close to their face and runs around to all the family, saying, "Guess who's here!"  At least that's what it seems like to me.

Years ago our dog met my father in law at our house for 1 day, they played in the backyard, then Grandpa went home. We drove to another state, Hubby, kids, dog to visit my parents. Dog was tied to the garage door and we were all standing around, when around the corner comes my father law, he was meeting us at my parents (6 months after only 1 time, they met), He went nuts and started smiling at my Father Inlaw. Was so funny. So yes they do remember.

I had one dog (my best ever tracking dog) that was an incurable crotch-sniffer. Never was able to break her of it. Yes, she did it to me and my husband too... Yes, we were often embarrassed by her.

One day she did it to an off-dluty woman police officer. The officer asked Roger if he'd ever tried to teach his dog the command 'NO SNIFF"!  We made a good effort at it, but for this particular dog, it was like asking her not to breathe!

If I ever find another pup or dog that is THAT fixated on sniffing things, I will GRAB IT, because I will know what a great potential tracking dog it is

We were in a pub with our dogs. They were quite relaxed lying on the floor until a punter walks up to the cigarette machine, bends over to collect his fags when one of my dogs dived straight into his bottom.  The guy jumped, turned around and I went, " That's free, no charge"  Thank goodness, that broke into laughters.

There is one friend who was my husbands shooting buddy and they would go shooting twice a week and each time the guy would come to our house he and the pup would  jump up, bear hug, then wrestle around on the floor,  from the time Arkane was small until he was about 6 months old.  It was a real ritual that both man and puppy throughly enjoyed. Then we didn't see him for a while.  One day when Arkane was about 18 months old the guy came over to our house and the minute Arkane saw him he charged him, jumped on him, bear hugged him, and they wrestled, it was great.  He still reacts to this guy this way.  That's his wrestling friend.

Most other people he has no interest in.  He doesn't enjoy being  pet by people, he doesn't bite or skitter away, he's just kind of rudely indifferent.
