I am in desperate need of a GSD to replace a K-9 on our department who recently had to be put down due to his health. We are a smaller agency and no budget for a replacement at the moment. The prospect would be dual trained (patrol) and (narcotics).
If anyone knows of a possible prospect it would be deeply appreciated.
Our dogs reside at home with the handlers, they must own home. Kennels are inspected randomly on a bi weekly basis. All medical, dental, food, supplements and equipment are also paid for by our agency. In addition our FOP will purchase the prospect a vest.
The K-9 will retire with the handler, and all food, medical will be provided by our agency upon the prospects retirement.
Thanks in advance.

You might want to contact Suzanne Eviston of Gruenheide kennels. She supplies several departments and may know of someone with an appropriate dog that they would be willing to donate.
Also, contact Mark Scarberry at von Lindesfarne kennels in Ohio. He also runs a police dog/handler training facility.

You are looking for an adult dog I take it?
One with the right qualifications.
For free or at a reduced price.
I have seen ads from kennels stating reduced prices for law enforcement.
I'll try to remember where.

Have you tried the DOD. Here is their link http://www.militaryworkingdogs.com/dogstoadopt.shtml. This program has been around for some time and they may be able to help you without a huge outlay of funds.
