I've discovered the vacuum is a great way to test the courage in your dog. It also tests your handling and control of the dog. I give the example of my dog who is fearless and quick with a full bite at the writhing foe. The roar of the sucking machine only spurs him on with I think you call it, a bark and hold. A well trained dog will out the vacuum on command, but then is ready to commence the attack. We developed our own body language. If I step in front of him and say "Mine!", only then will he retreat. Otherwise he takes that as an all clear for a bite. You'll laugh but I just know he'd do it for real!

LOL beetree.  Wonderdog - slayer of all wayward vaccums!  (and champion of all hariy carpets)

One of my dogs doesn't like the vacuum, she'll go lay in the other room, or stare at it from the couch....sometimes she'll try to nip at it.

My other dogs LOVES the vacuum. He'll just lay there while I vacuum around him and eventually have to  tell him to move his butt. Sometimes I actually vacuum him, he enjoys it and it helps suck up some of that loose hair. He'll even flop over on his back so I can do his belly and throat!
I can even vacuum his face - silly shepherd.  What a big Lummox!

LOL.  My dogs are indifferent to the vacuum, but Nikon is wary of the blow dryer.  He doesn't like it pointing at my head so he sits in the bathroom doorway (not allowed in the bathroom) and makes sure it doesn't get too close to my head.

I wonder if trainers will now have to desensitize their dogs with blow dryers and vacuums.

I have 2 I had to break from attacking my vacuum cleaner- As i guess they felt the need to kill the noisy beast in my house.

I'm afraid that if mine ever has to face a remote control car all is lost.....lmao

The thing is yoshy, the dog is right, it IS evil, this vacuum, I eagerly await its last, gasping cough. I am dumbfounded at its  remarkable powers of regeneration; and thus the dog maintains his vigilance. No harm shall come to this family while he's on active duty.
