Where I live (Scotland) certain folk will ask if my GSD is an 'Al Get ya', i.e Alsation/ "I'll get you"! My brother says that 'All Stations' is slang for alsations in Australia. Any others out there for GSDs or other breeds?

In my country, Jordan, where we speak Arabic we call the GSD only (German) no one says it complete i.e German Shepherd only (German). So if someone wants to say he has 1 GSD he says "I have one German".

@ Muldoon- You are so lucky to be in bonnie wee Scotland. I miss it over there. How is the GSD seen out there?

I'm just glad that the slang from the 60's/70's "Shep" is gone! As in "I have a "Shep". Yuck!

But "Shep" is original and has sort of nice old music in it, lol.

I like Shep too, reminds me of that old Elvis song - a tearjerker! LAVK-9, the GSD scene in Scotland is pretty good. Scotland is a beautiful place to live anyway. Some excellent breeders and clubs - some of whom contribute to the GSD board a lot. I'm not a pro in this area, just a pet-owner with a love of GSDs, so I couldn't accurately compare Scotland to other areas.

Idiots around here, since I can remember, will say, "Is that a German Police Dog?" I've also had people ask if he's a canine (K-9)!
