After the Michael Vicks incident, we need to be sure to let politicians know that repeated abuse of any
creature should not be tolerated. We have MANY signatures but still need more. You can sign
anonymously and it only takes a minute! Please help ensure that this poor dog did not die in vain.
Thanks
Linda
PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE EMAIL EVERYONE. DO NOT IGNORE THIS REQUEST PLEASE. THIS MONSTER'S COURT DATE IS COMING UP APRIL 28, THEY NEED ALOT MORE SIGNATURES. HE MUST BE PUNISHED TO THE FULL EXTENT. PLEASE HELP AND SIGN THIS PETITION, READ THE STORY AND PASS ON TO EVERYONE YOU CAN, PLEASE HURRY. THANK YOU.
Then pass it along to ALL ANIMAL LOVERS you know. This is still a valid petition in spite of it being 3 months old. No matter what punishment is meted out to this menace to society, it will never be enough. And if you read the entire petition you’ll see he is a lifetime criminal!
Please do not post animals on Craigslist - Craigslist can be a horrible nightmare for the innocent animals who cannot protect themselves.
"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." (Ghandi)
HOW CAN PEOPLE BE SO CRUEL?
Please pass on!! This is horrible and this man should face the maximum penality ...
Please sign this petition on Care2. The monster who did this stole a dog that belonged to a family with three children, then dragged the dog to death after tying him up behind his vehicle. Now this monster can't understand why he is in trouble ... and is worried that he may now lose his job!
What you are signing ... We the undersigned urge the court in Denver, Colorado to give Steven Clay Romero, the man charged in the dragging death on December 30, 2009 of a German Shepherd named Buddy behind his truck for three miles the maximum penalty of three years in federal prison, $100,000 fine and one year probation for this horrific crime. Do not let this crime go unpunished for the horrible death of an innocent dog. Given Mr. Romero's past criminal record, we feel he is a menace to society and this dragging death is only the beginning of what could lead to future unimaginable and tragic consequences.
Buddy - we will not let your death be forgotten! Condolances to the family including the THREE children that lost their best friend!

What I am wondering is, if he got the maximum fine and penalties under the law, who pays for it? What I mean is, the taxpayers pay his room and board, and feed him three squares a day, for dragging a dog to death behind a truck. I would assume the guy's not rich, so who will end up holding the bag on his fines? If he did get a fine of $100,000, you know he won't pay it, because he can't. So who pays?
The sucker can do it again, just as soon as he's out...Wasn't Buddy not even his dog, but one he swiped from somewhere? Not sure fines and jail time are the correct punishments for this...Don't think they'll teach him much, though I know what would! I won't elaborate, I'm sure all know what I mean...

The prosecutor already has the list of over 100,000 signatures from all over the world about Buddy. Her email was published here, so she got emails also. I too hope the POS and his POS sister get the maximum penalties. I hope the woman who abused the GSD Courage gets the maximum penalty too. People who would do such depraved and cruel things to dogs are truly oxygen thieves.
Advertising any animal as "free to a good home" is NEVER, NEVER a good idea. The adopter will almost certainly turn out to be abusive.
The federal court that dealt with the Buddy case is actually in Grand Junction Colorado, although Denver is the "home" office.
The newspaper for Buddy's case is the Grand Junction Sentinel. Romero's last publicized court appearance seems to be this one:

You can do a local search at the newspaper site above for more on Buddy.
The authorities in California seem to be trying to dot all the i's and cross all the t's in their legal case against Courage's former owner. Last I heard, they want to talk to the anonymous rescuer for more details.

My husband and I both signed it. The maximum penalty for this man's crime is not even close to being harsh enough for the horibble crime he committed. Grrrr....
