What is the views of the readers on here , What are the W.L Dog primary uses for the people posting on this forum, meaning Work related
Just one point, do not bring in the Sport of ScH into the equation, for a great many people on here think is proves nothing and is of no benefit overall to the W.L breed as a whole,
So Guys what do you use your W.L dogs for meaning the dogs you currently own
I'e Police Work, .Herding, Training For Bomb Detection etc or As Guide Dogs for the Blind, What else,
But please leave the Sport side out of your ways of finding your Dogs work, So that should not be mentioned as it is not relevant to this thread

2 Pups are working police dogs
1 Pup is FEMA certified Search (and doing Schutzhund)
1 is a personnel assistance dog for a wheel chair bound collage professor.
1 is holding down a couch very well...(not that kind of work i,ll agree)
The rest are training and trialing in Schutzhund. ( I don,t consider schutzhund a sport)
Sounds like work to me.

My working line dog is my service dog, my companion and my rock.
And I hate like hell to see him getting old and slowing down!

My Working Dogs have all been used for work EG Prison & Police, and as I write I am watching my old boy on a day to day basis as unfortunately it is nearing the time to give him sleep. He was a fantastic Police Dog, criminals did not think so!! as he left his mark on quite a number.
At this time I cant help but reflect on how time passes so quick and I wonder where the last 30 yrs have gone, and all the beautiful working dogs I have had the privilige to call my partner.

My WL/DDR male is my service and assistance dog and companion and couch potato. His daughter, who is half American, has designated herself to be #1 watchdog and goes over every inch of the property every day. Granddaughter, who is WL, DDR and American is the showdog of the bunch. All are great companions...................

Every one of my 9 dogs are babysitters.
2 of my dogs from German show lines are great herding dogs on lead for pushing the 700 lb jersey bull to where I want him to go.
1 of my old retired breeding females lives on my mother's ranch as a personal protection dog and herds her large boar goats- especially for the large 150 lb buck that loves to challenge and "show horn" to people.
A retired breeding female went on to be a service dog for a man with spinal troubles, she helps him get up, and picks things up, opens doors etc.(German show and AM lines)
Most of my dogs at home are young and basically are good door bells, they also alert me when UPS or Fed-ex gets here.
They all go for walks with me, I consider that free exercise equipment :) That's a Job right ? Keeping mom fit ?
The Dachshunds are excellent squirl repellent, and they will kill and eat mice, rats, scare off stray cats etc. Very hardy little rodent killers.
