It's scary- every time you place or sell a dog, you have to worry that they could either be going to one of these evil whackjobs, or used to create puppies that will fall victim to these same abhorrations of humanity. Just look at some of the scandals we've had on here and the other forums- anyone who's been around a few years remembers them. People we think we "know" and are good people and next thing you know they're being investigated or shut down. Sick- and here they were right amongst us.

www.ktla.com/news/landing/ktla-testicles-dogs,0,4323262.story this story is one of the worst I have heard! terrible.....

I beg to differ with the post above.

I don't see anyone on that list I know and I have known about the list now for years. It is also not even close to being up to date and that probably is good because it should be a done deal, meaning someone was convicted or charged, before something like that is posted.

The list is however, a good reason to ask oneself why they breed litter after litter when knowing that someone who really cares about the dogs will want to know where the pup or dog is going. All too often, a cursory conversation and an exchange of money is all that takes place between breeders and buyers. It is even worse in the shelters because they really cannot delve into who people are who come looking to adopt. If more breeders took more pains to really investigate the type of person/home to which they were selling a dog, it might help, but just a little bit. Dogs can be gotten in so many ways, including from the moron down the street who has a dog in heat and is irresponsible. I look frequently on the list for my state and I have never recognized one person there whom I had heard of.

In fact, in all the years I have looked at the list, there was only ONE well known dog person, involved in breeding DDR dogs, in CA, who was convicted of neglect/abuse of animals. There may be a handful of others here or there in other states, but most are not people who would ever be posting on a forum like this.

Hodie, what makes you think they're not on here?

by hodie on 10 April 2010 - 21:04

OK Jenni,

Someone has PMed me with information that alleges that someone posting on this forum and now leaving, is, in fact, someone who was convicted of abuse/neglect some years ago. I also have direct knowledge of that situation. None the less, I have no proof that this person really is here and posting, but if you want to PM me, if this is what you are talking about, I stand corrected on this point.
