I have a couple pictures here for you to critique. These are out of a Registered female shepherd that was sent off to be bred, stud fee paid, and this is what they got.
Of course they looked like real dark sable pups at birth, but as they grew?????
Disappointing wouldn't you say!

Oh, my!  I'm thinking either another dog got to her before she was sent to stud or after...either way looks like someone is due a refund.  Ouch!

I have never seen a black puppy look sable at birth, I have seen sable pups that look black and blk/tan that look black... would help to know parents pedigree but it is possible that both carried the black recessive and the long coat factor... would have to see who she thought the sire was ...

What information about the sire was made available or asked for?

A refund, not sure about that..

Oh my, someone screwed up.

These dogs are mixes. Pure and simple.

Mix.  Maybe border collie, or golden retriever - something furry, with heavy ears.  Oops.

Ok, maybe I should have said, Black Sable at birth. Now they have that longer hair coat and the  sable hairs arn't showing much in these pictures, but they do have them. Sorry about that.
The female was at the breeders before her heat cycle began until 4 days before birth of these pups.
These pups are about 6-7 months old in these pictures. They of course couldn't be sold so have been placed in pet homes.
I will see if the Owner cares if I post the Dam and the supposed sire.
Thanks for your input.

find out what other intact males the breeder has at the facility then - or maybe they run a boarding or training kennel - someone jumped the fence, for sure.  That doesn't mean the breeder didn't breed the female to the GSD male - did any of the puppies appear to be purebred?  the female can conceive puppies from more than one male...

wow.  Very interested to see pictures of the parents.  They are cute puppies though!  My mom had a stray border collie mix when I was growing up that looked alot like these pups.

Ok, if the bitch was at the breeders prior to her heat then a refund definitely is due.  Isn't there supposed to be some kind or responsibility here?  You take someone's money and breed your stud to their bitch but fail to secure the bitch from other males?  Anyone who has a bitch in heat on their property should have an idea of how to keep an "oops" from happening.  My bitch is in heat right now and she doesn't go outside without a chaperone even though we have a six foot privacy fence all around our property.  I don't care how cold it is, one of us is out there with her.  Yes, it's a pain in the butt, sure it would be easier to just open the door and let her out to do her business.  I can't imagine taking someone's money and doing less for them than I do right now.  I find it hard to believe that the stud's owner didn't know about the accidental breeding.  He should have fessed up and advised the owner of the bitch about the accidental breeding and handed over the stud fee and any boarding fees as well.  Sorry, but in my opinion a refund and an apology are due.  I would be soooo pissed if this happened to me.

I am glad they were able to be placed in pet homes.  I'm sure being half GSD they will make someone an excellent pet.  They sure look sweet.
