From the Hundesgram:

GSDCA Board Meeting October 2009

On a motion made by Tish Walker, President elect of the GSDCA, and unanimously approved by the Board of Directors of the GSDCA - The German Shepherd Dog Club of America is supporting the recognition of Schutzhund by the AKC and endorsing the GSDCA-WDA as the organization administering schutzhund events for the German Shepherd Dog. The GSDCA and the GSDCA-WDA will work together to establish a procedure for this.

The Board of Directors also took the following actions:

1. Approved the GSDCA-WDA developing the guidelines and hosting the event to qualify the member(s) for the WUSV Universal Sieger Event.

2. Approved the GSDCA-WDA Board of Directors, in concert with the WUSV 2013 Committee, National Speciality Committee and the Centennial Committee, finding sites for the 2013 WUSV World Championship.

3. Directed the GSDCA-WDA to develop the Team Guidelines and Team Code of Conduct (Etiquette Guidelines).

4. Hosting a Joint Meeting of the two boards in Dallas, Texas in January.

5. Approved the development of guidelines creating the GSDCA National Cup as the second event for qualifying for the GSDCA WUSV Team. The National Cup will become a Schutzhund event.

Pleased to see them take this stand. Wonder how the WDS ties into all this.

And then USA is passing by laws to prevent the "conflict of interest" of dual membership. ??????
How does this affect everyone?

I am confused and was hoping someone might be able to clear up something for me.  The AKC has a different  breed standard, different requirements for breeding, different type of shows from WDA which follows WUSV.  How will they rectify this? How can they justify different standards and different requirements and different judging requirements for the same breed?  What will happen AFTER they host the WUSV?  I am pretty sure the members of GSDCA who show and breed according to the AKC standard far out number those who show and breed according to the SV standard, so I don't see them ever conforming, but at the same time, how can one organization sanction and support two different standards for the same breed?

If that's the case, and people are just going to go along and wait to  see how things shake out in the wash, I'm afraid  it doesn't  bode well for the future of schutzhund in this country.

the future is now....I'm not sure if anything can be done to stop AKC/WDA from ruining it for all...money rules!
