Lets talk fursavers. What type do you prefer (chrome, stainless, or brass)? Does the chrome steel rust over time?

I don't know about the chrome but I have a stainless fur saver on one of my dogs now and have always on previous dogs.
But when my male is big enough I think I'll get a brass one for him.

brass Herm Sprenger fur savers, no particular reason for my preference for brass other than the color, so that's what I always buy.

Chrome fur savers will eventually rust...the chrome will come off...The Brass ones are nice and look very good...but they will turn color and you'll need to clean them...The Stainless Steel ones are very good...and don't need much in the way of taking care of....I've also used the Curogan ones...and there ok too...

Depending where you live the chrome will rust pretty quickly. Even leaving mine in my vehicle, they start to rust and the chrome coating starts to chip off. They lasted about a year in my damp environment.

Thanks for the replies. That's exactly the info I was looking for. I think I pay the extra $$ and go with the Stainless.

I have HS stainless pinches but was thinking of getting one of those HS curogan pinches: www.hallmarkk9.com/hermsprengercurogan325mmprong-1.aspx
Anybody have any experience with them?
You know it's interesting about the brass fur savers, I have never polished or cleaned any, one I have had for more than 17 years, within a very short time, a few months I think, they lose that bright shiny gold color (which I don't like) and turn a dull, warm sort of burnished color (which I do like). I guess I am saying in this instance being lazy & not polishing the collar is a good thing!
