I worked several dog with Dean, regularly, for about 10 years. Never once did I see him lose his temper with a dog.
"High tracking scores are a testimony to the discipline of the trainer."  (not direct quote, but close enough)

I have had the opportunity to train and attend a few seminars of Dean's....and plenty of others from the US and overseas, I assure you that you will learn plenty, not only about training dogs, but about handling dogs. I and plenty of others have seen him transform dogs, helpers, and dog training clubs in the positive direction. Even people who may not agree with everything he says or how he conducts his personal life can't deny that he is one of the most passionate dog trainers in the US. Look at what he has helped others to acheive.......i.e. Mark Saccoicio... results speak for themselves...

Dean will be in Pittsburgh again this weekend.  Please send a PM if anyone would like full details.

Our petite helper is not blond.  She is also a highly talented obedience trainer (thanks to Dean) and show dog handler!

I think Mark was running with a different crowd when he won 5th at the FCI
world championship with Joker. That may be where he hooked up with Dean.
Mark started as a very good decoy. But the two of them are sure going to improve
one another. Mark is lay back, and Dean is a little high strung. A good match.
Old dog, young dog. Don't miss them in action. If you want to learn how it's done.

Wolfinbok, actually Mark was training and living with Dean at the time he was competing with Joker at the national and international level.  I have known Dean for many years, and I would never categorize him as "high strung" or disorganized.  Passionate, absolutely!  Most everyone, regardless of the breed of dog or level of training walks away from a Dean seminar exhausted and knowing a little more than they came with.   You definitely get more than your monies  worth.

Sue,

Dean is high strung and disorganized at times,
but I did not mean any disrespect.
I do know Mark got 291 V score and the respect of allot
of people at that event. Me included. But Joker is Brittneys
dog, ( Malinois) from the bay area. Out of Mike Ellis's
kennel. Mark got started decoying for Bay Area Ring Klub, or( B.a.r.k).
But to be honest I don't know for sure who trained Joker. The malinois
that won the National and got 5th at the world FCI. All I know is it
was not Dean. Clearly Dean is the Master and Mark is the apprentice.

Wolf,

Why do you say he is disorganized?  What do you mean by that....I am wondering if we have a language barrier here and you mean something different.....Dean does not lack in organization skills.  He is a great trainer and an incredible coach! I have watched Dean since before Mark came along and Sue has it right....Mark has trained with Dean since he started training and showing Joker.  I think someone, maybe the original owner, did do alot of the training on Joker but it is MARK who took this dog to the top!  Mark moved into Dean's place not long after Dean moved to Oklahoma....Mark is a very good helper and we are very fortunate to have such a young man!

p.s. I used to live 45 minutes from Dean in Oklahoma.......we know him VERY well here!

Yes, Joker was and still is Brittney's dog and she did an excellent job with him.  I was correcting you regarding who Mark was training with at the time he was doing all that winning with Joker, he was living and training with Dean.  You say he's high strung and disorganized,  I completely disagree, but that's horse races for you, nobody has to agree 100% of the time!  Also when you say the Bay Area, I think of Northern Cali not So Cali, are you referring to San Diego Bay area?  I will also agree that  both Dean and Mark are incredibly talented trainers in their own right.

Sue,
Bay Area San Francisco,.....  But if you and Powerhouse both say, Dean
does not deserve these kinda of comments. I apologize. I know Dean is a very good trainer,
I have already acknowledged that. But over the years I have seen Dean blow up
over nothing. Mark you could set off a bomb next to him and he still keeps right
on doing what ever he is doing. Any time a Dean Calderon comes into area
to start a club or to help one that is trying to get there feet on the ground, with
some good foundation work, it is a big deal because Dean is one of the best.
So please retract your fangs, and I will go and lick my wounds.

Wolf,

I am not offended.  I thought you meant that he was without and organization (USA, WDA, DVG) something like that.  Alot gets lost in translation sometimes.  He is organized but I have seen loose his temper........maybe you should say he can have a short fuse or my favorite he is like a sparkplug..... (Sparky used to be an Airdale I knew and this is what we said about him)  he is like a sparkplug, you just never know when he is going to go off!  LOL

But, none the less......Dean's heart of for the DOG!  I have never seen another person in the working world that you look at them and know that their souls are as close to one as you can get!  Who else have you ever known that would confess to sleeping in his car(being homeless) to keep his dog........lol......he tells a story or 2 sometimes.
