My girl eats it with gusto! She doesn't turn around and eat it right then and there but if it is not picked up she will go looking for it later and gobble it down. Our old GSD, Airin didn't eat fresh poo but when winter came around she would try to bring a frozen "Poopsicle" into the house every chance she got.

Yes I do feel that some are predisposed to eat it. In my experience females do it more than males. That's just my experience in over 100 dogs I have owned or fostered in the last 20 years.
I also wonder if (at least in females) it has anything to do with instinct, as when they have puppies.

I've heard of dogs that will actually turn their head and eat it as its coming out of their butt

The survey is interesting because it asks questions about when/where the dog does it and how much exercise/mental stimulation it gets.

leciesters doghandler: I laughed at your comment. Its funny how something like this will make a man buckle.
If the breath gets bad, its breath mints for the dogs.

Some of mine, males and females have eaten it when they were very young. I believe some pups learn and see MOM doing it and it becomes a learned behaviour and sometimes the smell is an undigested poop and dog thinks it is fresh food!
I could never decide when , who or where or why any of them did the nasty DEED>
Funny , though , I never ever say them lick up Diahrea poop!
