Shelley posted yesterday, I think, about her Astro van being for sale. $1,200, needs some apparently minor work. Located in Jim Thorpe. That might get you by for a while.

Honda Odyssey fits 2 500's and possibly 4 if the rear seats are out.. and I get great gas mileage, about 25 around town and 28-30 on the highway..

I recently had an issue where I traded my van in on a 08 Scion.  Scion worked great if I was only taking 1 dog to training but I didn't like getting all the hair in it and was forever worried my dogs would jump on it and scratch the pain.....I threw an adult sized temper tantrum one day and bought a 97 Ford Aero Star for CHEAPPPP!!!......fits everything GREAT! I can put a 500 and a 400 side by side on an elevated platform to make it up over the wheel wells, only about 4 inches.  A couple of guys in our club have made these platforms for their vans as well and it makes for great storage space under the platform too!  They used PVC and a sheet of plywood.

If I were in the market right now,  I would be seriously considering the Ford Transit Connect:    http://www.fordvehicles.com/trucks/transitconnect/specifications/interior/

As much as I like my Dodge Nitro, which is supposedly a mid sized SUV, it really doesn't have enough cargo space.

gsdland - what year is your odyssey?  I am actually van shopping right now and there are a couple 2004 Odysseys with 51-57K miles on them reasonably priced.  I have been told to avoid the pre-2004 Odysseys due to transmission issues but don't know how set in stone that is.

Melanie,
I hope all is well and u are ok.

I love my town and country mini van. best dog vehical Ive owned. I cant believe the things I can stuff in that and it drives like a dream. I can put 2 600 vari kennels in the back and 4 400 in the middle with room for a cooler, chairs and our dog equipment. Plenty of room for several of Andys pups and the rest of the crew...

best part I love about the van is it has 3 zone heat/ac.

Psycht, I've been driving Hondas for 30 years and hate all of their automatic transmissions.  The standards are the best, go forever, but the automatics leave much to be desired, IMHO.  Have to add, I have no experience with the Odyssey, in particular.

It is a midsized SUV, you just don't understand how much schutzhund  junk I like to haul around (never know when you might need _____________ !!!!!!!!)   Plus I can't carry blinds and a jump and  equipment and dogs, but I COULD in that cool little Ford Transit Connect  thingamabobber.  A NORMAL person could carry a couple of crates and their equipment in the Nitro.
