wrestleman Chip mixed the lines to get better work dogs. Pucky is bred just to have pups i guess. They would have to mix him with the civil driven bitches as you said to have some sporty dogs. Rob

Puck / F Genga Von Haus Cimmerian.... Pruduced some nice, balanced, but highly driven pups.  Definately not pups you would place anywhere but in working environments. I bred them and kept the pick male for myself. We are working in SAR and Accelerant Detection. Freiya, an Iltis daughter was just the right cross to bring out the best qualities in both dogs....

JMO....      I love Puck anyway.

I have a Puck son, and he is on the databse. Ouzo vom Spartanville, his mother is Haike von den Schwedenschanzen. He is a confident young male with high drive for the work, in fact we worked very hard on his prey drive and we are now working on bringing more balance so he is not so sleeve focused. His gripping behavior is super, per the helper. He is handler sensitive, but that could be age, not sure yet as he is not even 2 and he has a lot of maturing to do. He has very nice focus during obedience, but I worked my ass off to get that. He is super social, loves kids, people in general. Tracking is great, he just tracks to track. He actually squeals when he sees the flag! :) We will see how everything else develops as he matures, I am very happy with him and his progress in the sport, he is also being cross trained as an HRD K9 (human remains detection).

Schaferhunden, I could get you some video of my male and the male I am training that is the brother to the one in the video you posted. His name is Pook, and he is quite high in drive. I believe drive is inherantly genetic, but there is much that can and should be done to bring drives up and out. We worked very hard to bring the drives up in both Ouzo, and Pook. DDR dogs are not typically high drive dogs, but if worked properly you can get a lot out of them, although they are not quite for high level sport.

sure we would like to see video. I would say we all have a different perception of what is high drive

Thank You shrabe... Our males sound a lot alike in temperament and drive.  I sure wish I would have saved video of the pups but after they were sold I figured I had no need for them... My mistake.  I too agree that the perception of high drive is different per individual... I will try to get video of Blitz working, posted for you. We do a lot of things here in our program to help bring our the drive in our pups...
