I have this same problem with my dogs.  The neighbor has a little shiz, this little dog runs at the fence and my dogs go nuts.  I have a wood fence and they have chewed a hole in it trying to get at this little dog.  They are not dog aggressive when they are out of the yard, but I am afraid that if they get through my fence that little dog is dead.  I think a HOT wire would be the way I'll go.

Sunsilver and SteveI I don't not have a springer on my bike - and I have the leash in my hand - if I was coordinated enough I probably could carry something in my left hand.

Steve you are correct this isn't doing any good for my dog with these dog charging - of course in a previous thread I stated I was training for the AD - at the time when I started - 4 weeks ago - he didnt seem to be dog aggressive - but since these dogs have been doing this to us - he has become more and more aggressive to the threat of these dogs coming out at us.

There are three dogs that give me problems - I did confront two of them out of three - one slammed the door in my face - the other one scooped his little minpin up in his arms -"I had dropped the leash by accident-before I knew what I had done. " He saw the trouble his dog had caused me - and he appologized and his dog hasn't done it sense.  The last one -that I kicked in the head - they wouldnt come to the door.  I will call the law next time or take a net and pin the little sucker and take him to the pound....{vent - vent - vent} I feel better now..Thanks.

Sorry  don't mean to hijack your thread - RLhar..RLHAR - I am going to lay in wait for these dogs to come in my yard - my son has several weapons in his arsenal.  My venting on this post has made me mad - at those that don't keep their dogs up - I could only imagine how they would feel if my two GSD came chging at them from my yard - but I will watch for these dogs and they will get a dart in the butt or a sting from a pellet gun or I might even get that net out and capture them and make sure they go to a more suitable home.

I have nothing of value  to contribute.  I only wanted to say the title of this thread is great. Never heard the phrase "headdesk" until now, but I love it and plan to use it often!

I agree - to bang one's head repeatedly against the desk in frustration; an expression of frustration or irritated disbelief, from the tendency of annoyed

YogieBear, watch it with the pellet gun...it wasn't that long ago someone posted a story of a GSD that died when a cranky neighbor shot it with a pellet gun....

Have you thought about one of those goofy high-frequency noisemakers? I used one successfully to shut up a Pomeranian who yapped 24/7. Maybe it would make your yard unpleasant enough to avoid?

VomMarischal - would that hurt my dogs ears?

Yogie
You have not yet taken the AD then in that case it sure will not help your dog for he will be with others who are perfectly okay that is a shame,
Is there nothing on the market which you can hold to give the dogs a shoch whn they getin range there must be somthing out there similar to a tazer but not so potent just a shock if it touches the dog they will soon clear off
What say you carry a water pistol and squirt them in the face that too will put them off anything is worth a try

The details escape me but I remember a lady shooting at a dog in her back yard and killing her neighbor.
She is in prison now and a family is without a mom/wife.

The hot wire is not lethal and it works.

If ya gotta shot something look into paint ball guns.
You can even pick your colors......lol

Yes, that is another good  deterent that would work well, Yogie could even drop in a bottle of Turpintine to the owners of the Mutts if it was Oil Paint

They have enough power to sting, and it's a washable paint.
Some are very high tech and accurate...non-lethal.
