Hehehe... I'm a groomer by profession and we have a girl who is a bather at the salon I work at who thought she was going to force a rottweiler to submit to the high velocity dryer... I told her after a minute or two of watching the dog bark and growl and lunge at the dryer, that it was probably safer for her and the dog if she towel dried the dog. But she was bound and determined to "show that dog" she meant to dry it...sigh...
Next thing you know the little miss is bleeding. How nice though that she didn't "blame the dog"
Shame on me, I was feeling quite smug afterwards while she (the bather) was laying on the floor all dramatically because she was dizzy. I said "told ya" and stepped over her.

This is exactly why I would not allow someone I don't know to bathe or groom my dog.

And you are a smart man for that Keith!
I have to openly admit I have reported co workers to management for being overly rough with scared or dominant animals. Sorry, not gonna happen on my watch. If you can't get something done safely don't do it!
Being a groomer I am technically not allowed to groom "bath only" dogs per company policy. However I do have a rottweiler (not the above one) who I had no choice but to groom one day as our bather called in sick. I have now been grooming her every month for almost two years, as the owner started requesting only I groom her dog. When the owner comes to pick her up the dog rubs all against me and licks me to death before she goes home. I like to think it's her dog way of saying she enjoyed her groom ;-)
When our new manager took over she tried to have me pass the dog on to a bather and the owner was so upset she called and I got special permission from our coorporate office for me to continue grooming her dog, since in the owner's words "no other groomer can read the dog" like I can.
When my schedule changed I referred the owner to another groomer I thought would be a good fit for the dog.
Anyway the owner called me at home (I had given her my number) after the dog's first groom with the lady I recommended and told me that when she came to pick her dog up, the dog literally dragged her out of the salon to go home, and when she went home she went directly upstairs and stayed on her bed for the rest of the day. I was very upset and offered to come in that one day each month especially for this crotchety old dog that I adore :-)
Sorry for the long story.... Just wanted to share how awesome I am, hahaha!!!

Well Keith, I can relate AND I have video :-p

I shot this video a couple years ago when Frost was about 3 or 4 months old. Her breeder, who is a close friend of mine, and I were joking about who had the "nastiest" pup from this breeding when it came to the blower. So I went and got my camcorder and shot this quick video. To this day she gets stoked when she sees the blower come out but I no longer need gloves and a muzzle - most of the time that is <vbg> All kidding aside, she is not a "nasty" dog just a bit prey driven ;-)

LMAO! Thanks for the video; that is awesome! It takes on a whole new meaning when the dog is on the floor and weighs close to 50 lbs. already.

LMAO! Yeah, I don't even blow my good ones on the ground for fear of landing on my butt from wet floor and shaking wet dog :-p I thank my lucky stars that my 60 pound males are good otherwise I'd stick them in a wire crate with a high velocity fan in front of it :-P
