bazza, the riots are generally centred in the centre of Athens aroung government buildings. The dog show for a start is in Marathon (35kms or so out of the centre) and in no way would there be demonstrations out there.

the other thing is; that the show will be on a weekend...all ralies and demonstrations are done during the week to seek attention.

I am sure our  GSD people will have no problems!!

The other thing I should tell you is that the grounds of the show are absolutely fantastic, with club rooms, bar etc...great for the spectator and exhibitor...the weather would be 99.9% great too.!!

I think before this is all over you are going to see lot more countires with people upset. What has happened in Greece has happening all over. The only one balancing budgets is the house wives.

by bazza on 02 May 2010 - 16:05

So this is really just people demonstrating against something they find unjust? There is no massive riots then, thankfully. Sounds like it will be a great show, wish I could be there, maybe some day.
Maggie, where did you get your information from?

Steve,I might make a euro sceptic out of you yet!!!!
Surely the easiest way out for Greece is to copy what Iceland did, have a referendum on whether you should pay your bad debts or not!!!!

1doggie2, thats the whole thing...the housewifes balance the budgets as both work...when you have corrupt governments (I am sure we can name a-few in the EU) then the badgets are blown away; much the same way when one of the husband and wife partnership took it (the money) for him/her self...what would happen to the family?!!

Hardly massive riots, ie, plural more than 1. When it was actually some idiots getting out of hand at a protest, and restricted to one area. I thought by your comments there were massive riots all over Greece and it was being reported ALL OVER THE NEWS. I was really concerned for my friends, but I will speak to them later and get the facts.

Iceland is not out of the wood yet regards paying back what they owe Thousands of ordinary working Folk lost there savings that is wrong for how is that then any different from the People of Greece
If you borrow money it should be paid back simple as that, If you lose peoples money as such as the case of Iceland then it should be paid back, If that is not the case then any bank that gets into financial problems no matter what the country then that would mean the people with there savings in it lose there money regardless. Taking it as just a risk for putting it in the Bank in the first place
For me it does not matter one bit and to be honest i have no money as such in Banks of any thing to bother about so nothing or little to lose
I do know i lose a quarter of my Pension every month which comes from the UK because of the weakness of the Pound against Euros, and i can do nothing about it at all, Bad management all round so for me i do not give a hoot which party gets into power of the UK in the next election this coming week they are all the same Good Talkers and Poor Doers for the ordinary working people of the UK and none of them will change it for the good of the working class man or woman, Labour did not,  Maggie Thatcher Conservative did not and she ruled long enough
The lowest paid Belgian Pensioner  Gets 50% higher pension than i do,
My pension rise for this year from the British Govenment was a fantastic £2.37 pence rise a month to last until next year and i paid in every week out of my salary for 40 years working to get the pittance they give me, Thank you Mr Brown you are a gentleman

Well, excuuuuuuuuse me.   So thousands does not equal massive to you?  Oh well, you didn't even know that it was happening.   Maybe if you would get off this Forum once in a while and engage with what is happening elsewhere, you would KNOW what is going on.   Yes, do ask your friends.
