Looks border cross to me...Or Australian Shepherd..

No way they are purebreds, coated or not.  Just absolutely no way.

That said, they are cute pups.

I don't know how the law works with regard to these type of situations, but one thing I know is that if it were me, I would either demand another breeding, this time with semen, so that there's no chance of the neighborhood Romeo getting his "two cents" in there, or I would demand a refund.  There are already too many mixes in this world looking for homes to have to pay someone for a mixed breeding.  Just my opinion.

If you want to know what they are for sure, ask your vet about a DNA test..I was talking to a vet about the heritage of our Border mix...And he said that there are a couple of labs than can do a DNA analysis to tell you what breeds are in your mix...Don't know how they do it or how much it costs, but a DNA test would definitely prove that the sire you paid for wasn't the sire of the litter you got.

Here's our Border/Aussie Mix...Her ears are heavier than the pups you posted above, but then she's not half GSD, either.

Just my opinion, but you paid for a breeding you could have gotten by letting your bitch out to roam the streets.

Sorry, K-9Cadet, didn't pay attention..I mean the owners paid for a litter they could have gotten letting their bitch roam the streets...

I'd still like to see a DNA test...if the kennel claims that the sire is the sire of the litter, then lets see proof.  Like Molly said, though, a bitch can conceive by more than one male...

watch out for those DNA tests though - as for telling you what breed is in a mix - they are not accurate.  I saw a black/white Am Staff dna'd and the results were WAYYYYYY off.  They said three or four different breeds, none of which was Am Staff.  On the other hand, AKC DNA sire verification may work.  It would at least tell them that the sire of the puppies pictured was NOT the GSD sire paid for.

To me it looks like they accidentally sent you home with someone else's flatcoat retriever litter. I bet those people are wondering why their puppies' ears are trying to stand up.

That's what I thought too VomMarischal, they look like flatcoat retrievers.

Somebody needs to demand a refund.

Wow, I would definitely be doing DNA profiling on BOTH parents and ALL pups to see if they match (which sounds doubtful)... Then demanding reimbursment from there.  What colors are the parents "suppose" to be??  Any photos of the mom and who dad was meant to be?  And I definitely don't get how they would look sable at birth then turn solid black?!  LOL
