From what I've seen of "panda shepherd" structure, they remind me very strongly of American showlines, that makes me a skeptic right there of their working ability, but to be honest, I never wasted the time the time to research their lines.
If someone is, good for them, at least they're trying to show its some kind of working dog... I'd be interested in seeing any working video just for kicks.

Are the DNA results of this very first "Panda Shepherd" readily available for anyone to review or dispute? I dont buy it one bit...at all. I can undertand a color change in coat, but Blue Eyes from two brown eyed parents is about next to impossible. Until the DNA results are posted that all the dogs in 3 generations of the original "Panda" are in fact GSD, I think its a load of crap.

I don't buy the "panda gsd" being purebred either - and the reason they look "american" is because they ARE "American - nothing "German" about them. Just another "rarity" produced to sell to suckers to pad someone's wallet. Doing Schh? Sure why not - probably as unusual as any other American-line GSD "doing" Schh - no reason they can't try - there are a few that have dabbled in the sport.

Sure anyone can show up at a SchH club and play Schutzhund with their dog for a while. Doing well at it is a whole other matter. At first I would like to verify whether any panda dog is doing any sort of SchH training at any club. The next question will be "How well?"
But I have yet to here someone say that there's been a "confirmed siting" at all.
FYI - the Ohio panda breeder's web site is www.pandashepherds.com or some such and she presents her case for genetics to prove the dogs are pure. Can someone with more DNA experience than I go to her web site and evaluate her claims?
I would be curious to know the facts.

Hey,
I've seen a Golden, boxers, and several Aussies get SchH 3, and a Jack Russell, several bull dogs, and a Skipperke that could probably get their titles. Nothing surprises me anymore.

DNA kits come to YOU in the mail, YOU swab YOUR dog and send it off. Whos to say someone didn't swab a complete different dog.
Breeding the panda shepherds is not something I would do, but I also would not breed white German Shepherds and sell them for $800. I think the lady you owned the panda shepherds said she would never breed them, but it looks like that was a load of bull.
I take into consideration that mutations happen, but like live4schhutzhund said, I don't see where the blue eyes are coming from. But looking at them, they look part border collie, or some other type of herding dog.
The only way I would believe they were pure is if a geneticist did the DNA theirself and not just on the parents, but at least 3 generations back. Then who is to say her female was not mixed with something, because to my knowledge, her female did not have the best of lines, and I may be wrong on that, I really cannot remember looking at her pedigree.

I did some research and came across a website where someone was researching Frankas dams side, and found a dog named Texas Star, the dog is registered black, but said to be white in fact.
I think the accusation made about the pandas doing Schhutzhund was just someone opening their mouth, and not doing what they say.
One thing that did interest me if the other statement being said, which is " the first shepherd was a panda shepherd." I do not know where they got that information from, but I dont think its correct.
