I have a GSD that i bought from someone in kona. I live on oahu. anyway um.... He is pure GSD but with no paper work. He is the short hair version and has a straight back. Right now he is approx 24" but he weighs 60 pounds he is 15 months old. The vet says his weight looks perfect. you cant see any of his ribs. The person i bought him from said his parents are 28" at the shoulder and are 80 pounds. Is this normal for a gsd?

It doesn't sound like there's anything wrong with your dog. The GSD is not supposed to be an oversize breed. The breed standard for males is minimum 23.6 in at the should so your boy is tall enough. Males should be minimum 66.1 lb so he should fill in just fine by the time he matures.
Smaller dogs can be much quicker and more agile than a large dog. With a smaller dog, he has less strain on his joints and less likely to injure himself while jumping and such.
Enjoy your pup and remember that "bigger" is NOT "better". That is a common misconception among Americans and all too many breeders produce oversize dogs for bragging rights. Count yourself lucky that you didn't end up with one of those ponderous fur balls.

My boy Chaos is 1 year old and 70.5 lbs. He is a long coat, so he looks like he is heavier, but trust me he's not! My vet says also that he is at a great weight and looks awesome.
