I wanted to share a recent scam that came my way. This may be old news to some of you, but it was a first for me.
I got a call from an operator acting on behalf of a "deaf" person who was contacting me via telephone to inquire about an available puppy. My first red flag went up when the person asked no questions about the dog's ability for service work. He simply wanted to know how much the dog cost and my location to pick it up. I gave him my yahoo email address and suggested he contact me via email.
When I checked my email later, this individual had sent me an email. He said repeatedly that he wanted to buy the dog and an "international" agent would arrive with a certifed money order and pick up the dog. He then said that the check would be made out for more than purchase price of the dog and I should give the balance to the agent. He then asked where I did my banking.
Clearly this is a scam to get my financial information and nothing else. The addresses he provided for himself were fake.
I just wanted to make everyone aware of this new scam tactic.
