HI

I AM A PROFFESIONAL DOG VENDOR FROM THE NETHERLANDS. I SELL LOTS OF DOGS WORLDWIDE, MAINLY DIRECTLY TO GOVERNMENTS. THEY USUALLY COME TO OUR SITE AND TEST THE DOGS PERSONALLY, WITCH WORKS FINE. REGULAR I ALSO HAVE GOOD PEDIGREED SPORT AND OR BREEDING PROSPECTS, TITLED AND UNTITLED, BUT SOMETIMES THE DEALING STOPS AT THE BUYING POINT DUE TO THE "TRUST"FACTOR. WHEN BUYING MORE DOGS I DO FLY IN (PERSONALLY OR MY STAFF) THE FIRST TIME, SO CLIENT ONLY HAS TO PAY THE FAIR FOR 1 PERSON AND THE DOGS, AND THAN WILL PAY DOGS WHEN HANDED AND ALL IN ORDER. BUT WITH 1 OR 2 DOGS THAT IS NOT WORTH OUR WHILE, ANYONE ANY SUGGESTIONS HOW TO DEAL WITH THIS?? I THOUGHT BEST IS TO ASK THE POTENTIAL UYERS THENSELVES.

THANK YOU

JASPER SCHOENMAKERS

WE DO HAVE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE NUMBER, DOD (USA ARMY) BLANK PURSAGE AGREEMENT NUMBER AND DUNN AND BRADSTREET SITE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER.

I just imported my first dog back in Oct.  I had never met the people or had any other reason to trust them other than they were recommended to me and after several conversations I just had a good feeling about them; that they were reputable.  When it came to the money aspect I wasn't sure how that was gonna work and I would have been uncomfortable with just sending money to Europe based on a recommendation and gut feeling.  I was however much more comfortable when I found out I could pay with pay pal on their website.  I'm not sure how others feel about it; but in my case it made me relax a bit more and the transaction went smooth and I was very satsfied.

I have purchased several dogs from Europe from four different persons (and purchased a couple in the USA also).  I now have someone that I absolutely trust in Germany.  He has always been efficient, honest, and trustworthy.  I find that I would almost rather buy whatever the person I trust has for sale than take a chance on someone I do not know who is offering a great dog for sale.

I like, and even appreciate, your request to know what would make people feel more comfortable.

What would help in my humble opinion:

References of well known persons in the GSD world community available for me to call or email.

Enough information on the dog within a timely manner when requested.  Most people want videos, pictures, copies of the pedigree, copies of the A stamp or hip certification papers, information on progeny if any, copies of scorebook and show records.  I have purchased some dogs on just a scan of the pedigree and a couple of pictures, and I have been very very happy with the dog.  But it would be nice to have more information as well.

Timely responses to emails sent.

Reasonably regular reports on the dogs after purchase until such time as they are shipped.

Accurate reports on the quality, temperment, and training of the dog.  Nothing is worse than getting a dog who is not as described or as promised.  Like when I was told that the dog housebroken....there is nothing like cleaning up poop on all three levels of the house for three days, and thereby (DUH!) ascertaining that the dog has never actually been in the house before.  And that's the LEAST upsetting misrepresentation of a dog I can think of.

i would love to import some dogs from Europe but when i get the prices & the shipping & all the reports of pepole haveing trouble with the dog not as good as owner says or it has problems & hard to get paper work from owners im scared to send a lot of money over there i can buy good dogs here in the usa & go look at them befor i buy if yous could help with shipping i know for a fact yous sale the dogs over there for a lot less money then you charge us over here say you have a pup for sale for 800-1000 buy the time we get it here its 1500 & if we send it back its 500 more we can buy good pups over here for 800-1000 here  if yous had some place over here that yous could send the pups & dogs to i think everybody would be apt to buy more imports or if the dog is what you say get a 50 per sent depoist & hold the papers till yous get the bals. on the moneys that way nobody has a problem we pay shipping here if we dont want the dog you pay shipping back then the dogs shiped are like owners say

i know this is long but as i said id love to buy some dogs from over there if we could set up a acct, or find some one we all trusted to hold the money & papers till the dogs could get here & we could make sure the dogs are what we bought id even go for something like that the way it is now we have to take all the trouble & changes iv tryed to buy some dogs me send 50% & pay for shipping yous say no pay in full & we ship the dog but think about it yous have crooks over there just like we do here so i think yous should take 1/2 the risk same as us as soon as we can work this out ill import at least 3-5 dogs a year & i think a lot more will buy from over there we have 1 alpine k9 in az.but we get a price from yous of 2500-3000 & he adds 1000 or more to each dog then we have to pay 4000-5000 for a 2000 dog not me

I have had excellent results buying dog from Europe. My best advice is to go there and get to know people in person. Like any other business, buying dogs is best done face-to-face. What you see is what you get. You have the opportunity of having a health check done prior to purchase. (Never seen a crooked vet over there yet)  Dogs, money and papers change hands. You have a great experience, save money bringing your new dog(s) home as excess baggage instead of shipping, form relationships with new friends. Everybody's happy.

Yes, I know some people will say "Its too expensive" and "I don't have the time" but when you figure how many years of enjoyment you plan to have with your new dog, and point to all the sob stories on this list, that argument doesn't hold up very well.

No one can know for sure which one is YOUR "heart dog" the way YOU can. There's no way to emmulate the thrill when your heart cries out "THIS is the dog for ME!" ...remotely. You'll never regret it, I promise.

This is the best way to work, a person with knowledge of dogs and knowledge of what you want can be of enormous help. See the dog, check in person, no pep talk from sellers, establishing facts on the spot, checking and making sure that the papers are ther etc. Such a person could act as a scout, visiting shows, suggesting potential purchase even before the dog is on sale.
