Hi, I would like to know what shold a buyer lookout for when buying a dog online. What all can ca buyer demand from the breeder before purchasing the dog and confirming the price. Also is there in legal backing for deals which happen on the internet. Does the german law have any protection for such trade practice. Can i buyer demand the following 1 written agreement of the sale with terms agreeded by both parties. 2 all the original certificates of the dog 3 the pictures and video clip before the dog is confirmed to be absolutely sure as at times pictures give different impression 4 if a bitch has to be brought down in welp , can we ask for the pictures of the lock position of the male and the female to be sure 5 how does one know if the prmomised male has been used by the breeder. 6 gurantee on the puppies for thier hips and elbows or any other health issues till the age of 8 months. Are thies any breeders who follow this practice ? please advice with contacts bontzf1@yahoo.com

Dna proves that the male is the one used...Ask for the dna proof and if male isnt dna , dont use that male...all other demands are good and most breeders would accommidate you with all.... Pictures of the lock doesnt mean squat I have 4 males that all look alike You couldnt tell one from the other....tatoos and Dna can be ask for and will prove if pups belong to the male u requested ....Lawsuit time if DNA shows that male is not the sire....Breeders with reputations will supply you with the needed documentations ....and preview their contracts before you get your signature on the dotted line......I dont know law for internet....but all the breeders of long standing on this data base will surely guide you to the right ones, not he wrong ones...that's a given.....

Hello skywalker, I am also outside Germany and I also dream of buying a dog online everyday cause I can not go to Gemany to buy a dog. But everytime the negatives what I think are, 1) Suppose a photo is sent to you of a very nice dog. You ourchase the dog and when you actually see the dog it is different what are you going to do. Because the saler will say on the phone this is the same dog. You will not take back the dog to germany and if you can then its better to go see yourself and buy. 2)Consider you have all the legal backing if you are cheated how are you going to fight sitting outside Germany and what are you going to do with the dog till you win the case. So my advice enjoy watching photos of the great dogs on Internet but when it comes to actual buying go to Germany see for yourself what you are buying.

Photos and videos can be deceptive, even when no one is trying to be that way. Sometimes, with photos, it is actually a good thing-- the dog is really prettier than the photo. (That's been my experience a couple of times...I was thrilled when I got the dog, she was prettier than the photos.) Videos only offer one perspective, and actions can be hidden from view leading to misconceptions, both for good and bad for the person taking the video. It isn't like on TV where many angles can be offered for one action. People take the professional camera work for granted, and judge amateur videos too harshly. You can demand anything you want, and a seller should try to supply all of your requests if he or she can. But be aware that SOME sellers get tired of responding to a very demanding buyer, and may elect to sell a superior dog for the same amount to someone who is less demanding and less work, so long as the dog has not yet been promised. If there are many people interested in the same dog, the seller is less excited about sending you paperwork, videos plus photos, tests, dna, etc etc. A seller whose dog is not selling as well, perhaps because it is just an average dog, will work harder at supplying what demanding buyers request.

Sumo gave me an idea... If you would be willing to go to Germany to take legal action against someone why in the world would you not just go there and get the exact dog/pup you want????? I think you are thinking backassward!!!!! Pay the money up front and get what you want.... OR Take the chance and go to Germany to take legal action after the fact..... No brainer, just start saving up!!!!! Best Regards, Dennis Johnson www.johnsonhaus.com

Hey Hundguy/Dennis....have you ever gone to Europe to go buy a dog, and find out it is sold after you arrived there?  I hear this has happened a time or two to dog buyers.  I can't imagine flying all the way over on a LONG A** flight, and find out that they sold the dog while I was enroute!  Does a deposit work to hold the dog until your flight can arrive?  After all, it does take at least a little time to get a ticket, as it is not always easy to purchase at the last minute a ticket for a reasonable amount, that also has cargo space on the return flight for a dog or three.   That's always been a concern of mine when considering flying over to look at a dog for sale.  Veronica
