Looking for WGSL companion - Page 1

Hello all, I’m recently widowed and was forced to move back home to California after losing our property. I now live with my 80 year old mother and expect to be there for many years.

I am looking for a WGSL male. Plush or long coat. Preferably 6 months to 18 months old. Perhaps a dog who’s washed out of training, been eliminated from consideration for your breeding program, or returned from original buyer through no fault of his own.

A little about me: I started training dogs at age 7 years old, began training horses at age 15. I’ve been in the GSD Breed for 38 years. In the past I’ve done rescue and rehab, worked in the service dog industry, bred dogs for service dog work, studied canine color genetics and for many years ran the only educational website on off colors in the GSD breed (Bluedogs- now defunct).

I am not interested in breeding any longer. In fact, with my current living situation it would be impossible. Rather, I am looking for a companion dog to go on walks with, to go hiking with, and to take when I go to wildlife preserves with my camera.

I’m very much into health and fitness and walk an average of 14 miles per day at work. My mother owns her own home outright and there is a 5’ x 50’ fenced run lined with river rock to house my new friend when he’s not with me.

I’m looking at Christmas time if possible as our wedding anniversary is Christmas Eve so rather a sad day for me now that my husband has passed away. Would like to change that and make the holidays a happy time for me once again.

If you think you may have a dog who would fit in well with me, please reply with your contact info if possible. Photos and pedigrees as well as location and rehoming fee if applicable would be appreciated as well.

Perhaps you could consider Vince. I'd take him in a heartbeat but took in a 9yr in Jan who is not good w other animals. He's in S Cal.

Darlene what part of CA are you in. I'm in the Central Valley but know most of the GSD folks in N Cal and some down south too. 

Hi, I'm not looking for a rescue from unknown origins or BYB's. This time, I am absolutely wanting a GSD from a reputable breeder who health tests, and is known to have dogs with working titles and sound temperaments. :) I'm sure Vince is nice but I am looking for that dream GSD that I've wanted for 20+ years. After losing my husband I feel like I absolutely deserve to give myself this indulgence. I hope you can understand. I'm in Modesto, California so if you could put the word out I would be so appreciative! :)

That is why you received response on a rescue and a “BYB”. Your description is not the “dream German Shepherd”.

There is over 500 classified adds right here on PDB. Priced from less than $1k to over $10k. Probably some higher. Surely you can find something without stooping to a “BYB” or rescue. Having a hard time understanding why you need help at all. Just pony up the $$$ and make your pick.
