edge, I got my first GSD a few decades ago. made almost every mistake that anyone has ever posted on here or could have made concerning the "dog game" and GSD.

ASL, Canadian S/L,, GSL, European/German WL.

kinda sad for me, looking at your dogs (and Bob's), that I wasn't a little more intelligent.

again,

congratulations, on what looks like on the interwebs to be a tribute to the GSD as a breed.

JMO,
Rik

Ric I do think intelligence is a big factor when raising a dog .the information that is out there now compere to all those years ago is a big factor in helping . Patience is for me number 1 because for the first 3 months or so the pup will teach you what you need to know about how he thinks , control's himself , what is his most balanced drive and most of all can he take positive corrective and bounce back .I never build an expectation in any situation I want calmness . when you learn all this and read what you are dealing with its only in my opinion time to go to work . Weather that is obidence ,bite, Hunt, sports, . I never try to build a foundation in excitement .1 reason is if your timing is off by a second you will only build excitement . focus only come with cam . This is my humble opinion .Ric thanks for your words in your last post 😉

Rik...You and me must be the only ones that have made EVERY mistake possible...I have done everything wrong one time or another including being pulled and dragged thru a muddy field by my dog...
I am a great believer in you learn not from doing things correctly but by doing things wrong and making mistakes...
I am also a great believer in you learn the most from the flaws your dog has...Because this is where you work to learn how to correct this flaw...

welp Bob, I agree 100% that we learn most from our mistakes.

that's kind of how I have come from "look at me, AKC/CKC Champions in 3 different breeds" to holy shitz, what the 3825 have I wasted these years on.

all I got from here on out is "if they won't fight, they ain't right". and I don't mean fight other dogs, that ain't quite right either.

but,
that's JMO,
Rik
