Will SV Help in Fraud? - Page 1

Will the SV help me if I purchased a GSD born 10.21.20 and still have no papers? The sellers kept saying the papers are coming, and now no longer return my emails.
The dog has an SV number, but I have gotten nothing more from the people.
I'm sending off a letter tonight to the SV, just wondering if anyone had had this experience and if this helped.
I guess I'm lucky. I've imported 4 dogs recently and this is the only one that has gone sideways. The breeder is in Germany.

You write that the dog has an SV number. If you have no papers, how do you know this? If it is only the breeder who gave you the number, you cannot be sure that it was registered with the SV.

The first thing to do is to contact the SV office in Augsburg and find out if the number you were given is a valid SV number for the dog. Don't write it takes too long. Email them. If so, the dog has been registered with the SV in which case you should report the problem. If the breeder is a member of the SV, the SV will most likely help you solve this problem, especially if you are an SV member yourself, but they will help even if you are not.

I encountered a similar problem. The dog was registered with the SV at birth but the breeder, who was very busy forgot to finish the paperwork. An email to the SV solved the problem but in this case the breeder was an SV judge and a well-known breeder. Your situation is different and more alarming since the breeder will not respond to you, it smacks of some sort of unethical situation. Good luck.
