Randy Tyson in the Bay area uses a # of Czech lines . Incredibly knowledgeable lady about our breed. The only commercial breeder I would ever recommend. She & her husband train , supply police dogs but also train & complete in Schutzhund. Dave at a world level.
Question is why are you looking for those specific slices of the gsd breed. What do you intend for your dog? What do you know about Czech & supposed DDR dogs & lines.
Knowing your knowledge level & intentions will help people give recommendations.
Have you owned a GSD before ? If so what did you do with it or accomplish with it?
Also have you connected with any Schutzhund clubs in your area? There are a # of them.

i know that what i am lookin in a dog can be found in a lot of breads or lines but as a category i thought the Czech lines might best exemplify what i am looking for. i am looking for a companion and a family/personal protector. he will be with me all the time and goes every where i go, even in public. so i am looking for confidence and not a ton of drive (pray or ball drive). he needs to be safe and calm in public and smart enough to pick up on danger when it arises.
i have had a Belgian Millions and a working line GSD. i did some protection work with both (the GSD was way better at it) but nothing competitively. i will not be competing in the future either, i am just looking for a solid protector and a companion.

Thought about doing a pm but what the heck let the flames begin🌋♨️🔥🔥🔥😱 it's a discussion other's may benefit from.
Keep in mind this is mho & that and 69 cents will buy you a cup of coffee..
As you noted I am not a fan of " DDR". I also think for what you want a dog for, the worst possible choice would be Czech lines. And yes folks I have owned a dog with Czech lines but - old Czech not new and I do distinguish between those two.
The more recent Czech dogs I have known have been highly reactive that go from 0 to 60 in a blink of an eye. Not something I want around kids. Being old with many decades in the breed I confess to liking a clear headed, stable, THINKING dog.
I would suggest for what you want a hiline/working cross might be a good choice. As always tho the breeder making the choices makes a huge difference. Two I would suggest would be Rebecca Rodgers Valkyre . I have respected Rebecca's breeding for years and especially like the longevity in her lines. She has had many dogs live to a healthy 15,+

The 2nd is Heidi Theis. Usually the working lines she uses are one of Randy Tyson's.
Also just curious. Can you pm me a link to your working line dog and perhaps elucidate why that experience made you feel like a working line would not b appropriate for what you want.
Good luck.

when I said Czech I did mean old style. I was not aware that the line could have been corrupter (maybe a harsh word) until I started doing some research.
to borrow your words "let the flames begin" I did talk to Hans from alpinek9 in Arizona and I did read what he wrote in this forum. (he does have few nonfans here)
I tend to agree with his philosophy in breeding. unfortunately he does not have any dongs in AZ any more but he is working with his Czech partner from jinopo.cz.
is it still possible to get an old style Czech here in the us or do I have to go to Europe
a THINKING dog is what I am after and from what I have read about the Czech line that is the closest in German shepherds because of the condition they were bred under.
thank you for the suggestions I will check them out
