Anybody have experience with line breeding 5th generation Asko von der Lutter?

by duke1965 on 30 August 2021 - 17:08

linebreeding in 5th means absolutely nothing

You should research that a bit more my friend.

I second duke statement linebreeding on a 5th generation dog is near enough useless because the chance that you produce a genetic trait that dog has is extremely low.

skidoo, how do you see that, and secondly, I would not linebreed on asko at all

Actually with so many dogs having Asko in their pedigrees you can throw a rock and hit one when looking at stud dogs. i would be curious as to peoples thoughts on his question. Many are breeding Bolle progeny back to Asko descendents for example. As an example I have a young bitch w Asko 2x but 5 generations back. Many of todays studs go back to Bolle, Leon, Neo for example and back to Asko.

I second Duke's statement. A 5-5 on any dog is probably nothing. Multiple 5's? maybe then you'd start to get some concentration. (Like 5,5-5,5)

Parent
- Grandparent (Linebreeding here would be cousins. 2-2)
-G-Grandparent (2nd cousins. 3-3)
G-G Grandparent (3rd cousins. 4-4)
G-G-G Grandparent (4th cousins. 5-5)

Heck some of us reading this thread may be related at the 4-4 or 5-5 spot and never even know it.

Now to clarify-
Someone might LB 3-3 on some unknown dog that goes back to Asko at 5-5. You'd get some concentration then. On the 3-3 unknown dog. Asko's influence at 5 would be minimal.

skidoo, let me give you an example, one of my females is 5-5 yoshy, and 5-5 tim abfuhr, and 4-5 on dixie haus santiago,, 100% it was by accident, not done on purpose, now if you look on an interesting tool on working dog, she has an ancester LOSS coefficent of almost 94%, meaning, even tough she has 4-5 and 5-5 linebreeding, there is only 5 plus procent chance on saving something from these dogs.

now, that is on paper, the actual number can be even lower, or slightly higher, as I said, there are no scheduals or graphs that will give you an accurate prediction, its all about the individual dogs in each individual breeding

Take Asko genotype 5th gen. & breed it to Asko genotype 5th generation you will likely get Asko
genotype.

Love Asko & Asko progeny from good females. Yes he was bred a lot & not always to best females. Old story repeated many times.
