Can someone please tell me the art of stacking a dog? How do you get that attentive look? I struggle with my dogs trying to get them to stack and stay!! Can someone please give some tips on this?

You never, ever stack your dog yourself! Someone else stacks the dog while you're calling him, that's how they get that attentive look.

You also need a third person to snap the picture. IMO the picture taker should be on the same level as the dog (squat down) and in most cases focus on the center of the dogs body. I also take a camera with me on walks, and altho I miss most of the great free stack shots, the dogs always seem to look their best when stacking themselves. I keep trying and have gotten a couple this way. Good luck.

LOL, I am glad I am not alone in the quest for a perfect stacked photo!!

The key on stacking is to get maximum elevation in the fore quarter. Lift the dog under the chest, (near the front legs)and lower him on to his feet. Once you have him at maximum elevation in the forehand the rest falls into line.

Thanks Lenny!! I will try that.

Thank you! I am forever having my son and my husband outside trying to get a good pic, (they are over me by the way LOL) but I am always holding the dog! I also carry the camera around hoping for a perfect shot, but honestly how many shepherds stand still long enough, you gotta be QUICK!! LOL Thanks Elizabeth

If I had a nickle for every picture I have of that GSD grin that says, "you thought I would stand still didn't you?" I would.... probably pay a professional photographer!!
