Remmi gets a dry rough spot on the outside of her lip that sometimes becomes raw. It's in the back of her lip-the part that kind of hangs open.  This has happened before and after I have started giving her enzymes.  It eventually goes away but I don't know what to do about it.  Is there anything that is safe to put on their lips?

Thanks,

Dawg

My female gets that sometimes, it goes away when I wype it with peroxide.

My male has the same problem. It does eventually go away. Unfortunately, I don't know what *causes* it. In his case - sometimes his nose would also get crusty and have to be treated in the past.

Yes it happens every once in awhile to most of them. I don't do anything special for it, goes away on it's own. Probably windburn/sunburn from drool always being there? Maybe someone can produce a doggie chapstick! I have some bitches that could go for some flavored lip gloss. LOL

Someone told me it was a some type of yeast infection, dunno how true that is though.

I had a male that had that more of a wet mouth, and he would often get chapped. It looks awful but seems to not really bother the dogs too much. You'll notice in large breeds with Wet Mouths. other breeds that have tight mouths don't ever seem to present this chapping.

Thanks for the input, guys.  I didn't know what to make of it, but it sounds like it's not uncommon.  Yeast makes sense as she's EPI which, I guess, can whack out the digestive track and cause a yeast overgrowth. I started giving her acidophilus (sp?) so maybe that will help.

Or maybe it's not yeast. Maybe she's smoking when I'm not around and got lip cancer?  I've noticed her paws have been kind of stained between the first two toes....
