I have heard anecdotely that if a titled dog bies someone (unlikey unless provoked) that the plaintiff is awarded a larger settelment. There is little or no info in case law to substantiate this. I have been advised by a judge in our metro area not to get my youngest dog titled. My female is ScH 1. I am not a breeder but just question if there is any validity to this notion.

I don't know about the title part but I know that around here it is not advisable to let people know if the dogs had protection training. Some people just assume you train the dog to bite. They don't know about the whole training and it can get dicey.

as far as insurance goes, here's what I was told, One of our buyers actually got her rates reduced because she had purchased a GSD. They list it as "alarm system". I don't know about the other stuff good question Ryan.

Echo-- If you're capable of doling out private justice to those that have injured your dogs, some advice is in order here. Learn to (sorry, I have to say it) keep your mouth shut and don't tell anyone (such as the world) that you even know those morons. Also, don't let the morons know you witnessed their taunts. You would have stopped them just by going outside pretending to do something. Take pictures (if possible), to aid only you in identification. Jot down description of their vehicle and license plate. If you're not capable of doling out private justice to those that have injured your dogs, do the best you can to keep them THINKING you might. Let them see you take pictures, and make sure they see you write down the license plate. These, IMO, are 2 options one might contemplate.

If you were so inclined to consider option #1---DON'T let them see you clicking those photos, or using a pen.(LOL)

You can't be too careful, Echo. Purposely answered on wrong thread----get it.

LMH, I feel the way you do. However, I would be concerened about them coming back and poisioning my dogs. Private justice, is no fun, I would want them to know, otherwise it would not change their behaviour. So now that I have started the war, would it be my dogs that paid the price....

LMH Good points, and well heeded.

I have heard so many horror stories about neighbours that are not dog friendly. I shudder to think of ever being in such a situation. It makes me EXTREMELY glad that my next door neighbour also owns a GSD, and has offered to dog sit on occasion.
