We need to get our dogs titled under an SV judge prior to Korbericht report. Will only an SV judge be acceptable or can that also be done under an FCI approved judge? I'm confused because I've heard both now. Help!

The answer depends on where you plan to survey your dog. If your dog will remain in the US (assuming you are in the US) USA accepts titles from USA judges and SV judges. The WDA accepts titles from WDA judges and SV judges.
It gets sticky when you go send your dog to Germany for training. The SV only recognizes SV judges. So if your plan is to just participate within the US, your only obstacle is to maintain WDA and USA continuity between the requirements for the survey. The SV judges are accepted universally.

We plan to stay within the US and maybe Canada. If we get a BH under an FCI judge would that be adequate for the breed survey. I would rather not have to do multiple BH's if I can find the right judge. Sorry if I'm asking this multiple ways, I need to be sure I fully understand before I register for an upcoming trial. Especailly since we have more then one ready for BH.

Depends on which judge it is and who they are sanctioned by as well as if the organizations you enter in the future accept this judge.
It gets sticky real quick. Here's a situation. You do your BH under a USA judge, AD under an SV judge and SchH1 under a USA judge. You go to a WDA event with an SV judge for your breed survey.
Will the SV judge accept USA titles at a WDA event? I bet you have a stumbling block here.
Rule of thumb is you can't go wrong with an SV judge. They are accepted across the board by the SV, WDA, and USA.

Thanks much. We'll just have to redo BH's when the opportunity comes with an SV judge to play it safe.

The determination by an F.C.I. judge will not be accepted by the S.V.. I know, as I own a V-3 rated male who was scored under an F.C.I. judge, and obtained his breed survey under an F.C.I. judge while in Hungary. The S.V. has no records of either, since the judge was not an S.V. judge. Perhaps if it had been a judge who is recognized by the S.V. it MAY have been different. I really can't say.
The different organizations, D.V.G., F.C.I., S.V., G.S.D.C.A.-W.D.A. and U.S.c.A. all do similar things, and the title is the same title. The difference is the reciprocity agreements between the organizations and whose scorebook is accepted by who. I agree with Dog1-you cannot go wrong with an S.V.-recognized judge.
The judges in each organization should use the same criteria for examinination of the dog's working abilities and conformation. The exception would be the D.V.G., as it is an all-breed sport club that is solely dedicated to the valuation of the working dog sport, and is not involved in conformation evaluation.

"It gets sticky real quick. Here's a situation. You do your BH under a USA judge, AD under an SV judge and SchH1 under a USA judge. You go to a WDA event with an SV judge for your breed survey. "
I had a female that did just that and the breed survey was done at the SE Regionals under a SV judge with no problems.
WDA does not recognize USA judges and USA does not recognize WDA judges. Goes both ways. But, are you able to get a title under a WDA judge and then a breed survey under a SV judge?

Does it have to be the BH under an SV judge? Or is it as long as one of the Sch titles is done under an SV judge the dog can get breed surveyed? Say BH under an FCI judge, Sch1 done under an SV. Would that work?
Thanks all for the answers!

Tina,
Do the Bh under an SV judge so there are no questions. We will bring one in for one of our trials. Willamette has an SV judge for their trial in Sept as well.

Hi Shade,
Wondered where you had been lately. How are those youngsters doing?
Our next club trial will be an FCI judge. We have been looking around for an SV judge and have discussed Willamette. If you hear of any sooner would you please give a us shout?
Thanks,
Tina
