Well, we obviously wanted a second opinion before proceeding to any type of surgery.  We took him to a specialist in pediatric cardiology at the U of Az.  He doesn't think it is at all necessary to operate. Was quite puzzled that we were told he did need it.  He does have a leaky valve as a result of a deformation of one of the valves but the dr. showed it to us on echogram and said it is not uncommon. Ebsteins is the term for it.  We have to keep him monitored every six months and that's it. Ironically, the way we got on this rollercoaster was to go to an endocronologist for suspected thyroid problems.  And he doesn't have a heart problem but he DOES have Hashimoto's disease of the thyroid. Caught it soon enough to manage with medication.

On a lesser scale we found out that Remmi does, indeed, have EPI.  Igot hooked into the EPI group on Yahoo and am waiting on my first shipment of enzymes.

We are pretty drained. But on the positive side, I GOT MY NEW PUPPY! He is a show/working line mix, mostly working with strong lines to Mink.  He is absolutely fearless. At eight weeks he was outside with me by the driveway. A friend came on an exceptionally loud Harley and the baby just stood and watched.  Very interested, that's it. And he is smart. It took me three times to teach him sit. And he caught on almost immediately that if he sits-the back door opens, if he mills around it doesn't open. He is such a breath of fresh air after all we've been through.

I can't thank you all enough for your support and kind thoughts and prayers. My husband, my family and I thank you so much.

That all aside, who's ready to rumble on the show/ working debate? If I argue with someone I'll feel like things are really back to normal!

Take a day or two for yourself, you need to let go of all the pent up emotions that you have been holding back. I am not going to "rumble" with you, with all that is in you right now, you would kick my as_. Stop and smell the flowers.

allaboutthedawgs--- When I read your original announcement I had no immediate comment because it struck me very emotionally. I can tell you now that he has been in my prayers and will continue to be so. I can assure you that that "miracles" happen every day---- cardiologists learn more everyday. Instill confidence in him!!! Eleven days from today, the 25th, I will celebrate my 1st birthday with this heart after my 65th this past December. That puppy is about living! Warmest personal regards, Morgan

allaboutthedawgs, Thanks for the update, have been hoping for good news. As far as getting second opinions, today it is a must when it comes to critical medical issues. Too much is happening too fast in medicine and it is easy to get yesterdays info, or just plain wrong info. My wife had been told that surgery on her particular eye issues was an absalute no. Too risky and nothing to gain. We got a second opinion and were told yes. Surgery was done and for the first time in her life she has good eye sight. Spent most of her life wearing the coke bottle glasses with things only looking worse with age. She doesn't even need contacts now. Second opinions cost little but can be so beneficial.
