Does anyone have any recommendations on upcoming HGH trials (to observe) and breeders in the US or Canada focusing on tending abilities in their dogs? I know the basics, but not much more. I know that Fuller and Voigt are the biggies and I know of their dogs. I also know Ulf Kinztel is an expert tender in the US now. I need the 200 level course! Thanks.

And here's a link with a lot of information on herding. I'm sure it will have what you're looking for! http://www.glassportal.com/herding/clubs.htm

I was hoping for a focus on GSD's doing this work. I see Kintzel's website which is very helpful. I wonder if anyone knows of a good book or periodical?

That is actually not my homepage anymore. Here it is: http://tehillahgermanshepherds.com/ I have some phenominal herding dogs! My male Dangi is a dream dog! He is a natural. If you look at my website you will see his pedigree. Tikka his dam is also a fantastic dog on sheep! I have another young girl Winnie out of Tikka's second litter who has natural abilities and an attraction to sheep that never stops. I am doing a breeding with Tikka that will be simular to Dangi's. Looking forward to it. If you want to email me I can give you more people in the U.S. who are using thier dogs for tending/boundary work. Email is: tehillah@telus.net Shelley

I tend with my dogs. I've bred three HGH dogs and several AKC Herding champions. All of my dogs work in tending. All of my students' dogs tend as well. Tending is commonly practiced in the US in the North East, Pacific North West and Texas. GSDs do extremely well at the work, after testing and training hundreds of GSDs of all sorts of bloodlines, I've found good to excellent tending instinct to be alive and well in nearly all GSDs with some bloodlines being marginally better. It is just an awesome thing to see these dogs turn on and work the way they were intended to work. If you can't see an HGH, go see an AKC C course in any of the above areas and you will see what tending is all about. Susan

Hi, I also have herding dogs here. One is from one of Ulf's breedings and one is from herding judge Manfred Voigt in Germany. Both have obtained their HGH titles here in the U.S. And my male is titled to AKC Excellent. We are currently not working at the moment, but hope to again at some point. It is truly amazing to watch these dogs work. I most enjoyed the "patroling" or "bordering" as some call it. Check out my dogs if you'd like.:) http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/377128.html http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/441849.html
