I read on another post that the gsd harder to train in a sport like scutzhund than an mal because they "did not have eoungh drive". I think the person posting meant that the gsd did not have "as much drive" as a mal. Wasnt scutzhund developed back in the early days of the gsd and kind of a breed test? I would be interested to hear what others would think the drives of the gsd would be like earlier on in the breed...at least before the 50's. Would they be more like some of the sport dogs that have a ton of prey drive?...like the show dog that has a little? Does anyone have any information on this...or recomend a book or something that may touch on this subject. I am always reading Max's book...but I dont think they referred to "drives" back then. He does describe temperament a bit.
