I was thinking of purchasing from this breeder, but recently heard some disturbing news. Has anyone done business with the breeder and if so, what were your expirinces? If you have negative feed back, please email me if you don't want it posted for the world to read.
Thanks,
Leigh

My dog is out of Chip's breeding. He is listed in this database - Ice von haus Cimmerian. He is the best dog I've ever owned.
His biggest negative point is his small size - at 18 months he is still only 62 lbs. However, his small size is actually advantagous in SchH. I have never had a dog with such speed, agility, and jumping ability. I like pairing him with a big, tall helper because he will lauch through the air to catch the sleeve, and it's pretty darn cool to see him flying through the air. :) At my SchH club they nicknamed him "Wild Child".
His size is probably a result of the breeding with Ginta, a small little bitch herself, but Ginta has also produced many dogs in the middle of breed standard by weight/height as well.
Now here's the caveat - Chip breeds old school DDR and Czech lines, and these lines definitely take more time to mature. My dog "Chaco" has been slow to mature both physically and mentally. He is continuing to gain weight so I'm confident he'll be able to make kkl2, and at 18 months he still acts very "puppy". He won't be mentally mature until 3 years old, maybe longer.
If you are looking for a dog that will sprout up quick to his full size and will mature very quickly in the head, then DDR/Czech lines are probably not a good choice, regardless of breeder.
As to these allegations of "disturbing behavior" that you mentioned, I have also heard such things, but so far have been unable to confirm. I have been trying to contact his friend who "was there" and "saw everything" but she has not returned my phone calls or my emails, and it's been several weeks. So at this point I have no idea what the truth really is.
So, here's the deal... every breeder in the world can produce some really good dogs, and some crap from time to time. Go visit him yourself and make up your own mind. I drove 7 hours from WV to get my puppy and I saw the whole litter on the ground and they were happy, healthy, mouthy little bundles of joy.
Email me offline so I don't clog this post with more verbage, or call me and I'd be happy to discuss. I'm in Japan on business this week but I'll be back in the States by Monday.

Leigh,
I got some additional information about this alleged "disturbing news" and I don't think you have anything to worry about. Buy with confidence and enjoy your new pup.
One other tidbit about Chip - I wrote my own guarantee and asked him to sign it. I listed everything I could think of - hips, elbows, eyes, dentition, even temperment. He didn't have any problems signing it.
Best wishes!
Yvette
Yes male DDR lines can be very slow to mature. They can also be very slow and way behind their "female" littermates on developing drives.
I talked to Chip a month ago. I can't say 100% what is going on, but the "disturbing stories" are probably B.S.
The disturbing stories are not BS, but rather the concussion he suffered altered his personality. I talked with someone last night, her husband is a firefighter, or has expirance with concussions and does think the more you get, it can actually alter the personality a bit.
I knew what happend wasnt the same old Chip, and things are now fine, and Chip is back to his same old self, and it is more than a good idea to buy from him! He produces excellent puppies, but like the rest of us, he has his good and his bad days, either way, he's back and better than ever!
Hey Blue-skye!
I figured you would show up on this post after I replied. I'm glad to hear he is better than ever.
Leigh
He has very nice dogs. If you want to get a bargain on a puppy. Call him up and talk about the NFL Draft and nothing but the Draft. He is a football nut.
most good dog people are quieky anyway. thats a good sign, lol
Yup, we're all a little strange, especially in MI.
MI GSD, I second that! Us Michiganer's are CRAZY! Even more so in the UP!
