Love our 9 month old male's blocky head. Here he is pictured by himself and then next to our 8 yr old female. Let's see some pics of gsds with those big blocky heads!

Joan, he was a rescue. He belonged to a neighbour of my mom's in Quebec, and the guy didn't feel he was a good enough watch dog and said he was going to shoot him if no one would take him. My elderly 14 year old female was going downhill fast, so I decided to adopt him. He was smart as a whip, and became my first hearing ear dog.
Had to euthanize him 2 years ago at the age of 14, because he was having so much trouble walking. Here's his tribute thread: http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/community.read?post=862489-its-time
Be sure to read the full story on Pg. 2, which explains why he meant so much to me.

Which is why I suggest you read page 2, which talks about his training...
The book I bought on teaching hearing ear dogs talked about performing an exercise 100 times to proof it. They obviously didn't know German shepherds!
