Why is it so few entries this year 2018 National show?

Speculating ... the answer somewhere lies in the facts that showing takes time , money , a lot , lot of training ... and a worthy enough dog to show since showing is more or less dominated by the big time breeders and kennels who have turned showing onto a business rather than an event that is a pastime and a fun thing to do with your dog ! A think that is it in a nutshell and consider this : It is a lot easier and a lot less effort to play X Box Games .....

None of the serious breeders,nor dogs showed up. I think after the WDA was eliminated the game is over. Thank you to those who helped this happened.

Too bad the WDA was eliminated for the GS . As a member of many GS organizations I don't see the average person being helped and nor are these shows that much beneficial to breeders anymore , in their minds. To easy to see from afar what dog got 1st place and then everyone wanting to breed to that dog , instead of actually individualizing a dog for it's merits and seeing what that dog brings to the breeding program rather than 1st place achievement. Not realizing dog # 2 , 3 or 4 can be a better producer for their program .
United Sch Club of America... which I have been a member of for decades, I IMOp say this : Even though they have a USA Sieger Show, the many clubs and the many articles I have seen in their magazine seem to be heavily skewed to Schutzhund ..[ BTW I resent that they use IPO as a designation because it in all practical ways it is Shutzhund ] . Showing is not the highlight of most clubs, nor is it where fun with your dog in showing . conditioning and training , is accented. ! . But Showing should be AS IMPORTANT as Sch because Form/Anatomy and Function go hand in hand. Showing and it's training is an excellent way to keep your dog healthy , in good physical conditioning , as well as a very very positive low stress pastime for both handler and dog. AND IMOp you don't have an excellent specimen of a GS without both . Unfortunately ... in the GS world , the serious people at the top . the world has become corrupted for the sake of the money. And .. I will go so far as to say , the cost of even doing sport work at a club.. it is a out the money . most dog organizations now it is abut membership numbers and the money ! Th irony , in the USA , the truth is ,that I can buy A GS Sch Titled for much less than the cost of buying a puppy ,raising it , joining a club and titling it ... isn't that soooooo sad ... : You wonder why people lose interest , do you ?
And nobody talks about this .. how many people really care .. [ probably very few] . BTW this is why I go my way from many of the clubs now a day .. They should pay people to join is the way I look at it.
