Question for the show experts, Can a dog compete at the Sieger Show if she had her canine teeth extracted after she received Kkl1 and Lebenszeit?

What, all 4 of 'em ?

--------------------------

Now please do not quote me on this, as I am only guessing and do not consider myself any kind of expert on SV Show Regs,  but surely if the dog is already that qualified (Kk/L), that MUST prove she once had all her teeth correct, and any dental work after that must have been medically necessary (it would hardly have been cosmetic !); but it would not have any implications for breedworthiness, surely ?  Therefore of course she should still be accepted for competition.  Very hard to justify that she should not be ?

Hundmutter, Thank you for your response. I was thinking the same thing, but thought I ask since I never had this happen to me before.

No, only 1 :)

I do not know about the German Sieger Show, but I have shown a dog at a USA Sieger Show that was KKL 1 Lbz and had a small tooth in front extracted. The tooth was extracted after he received a KKL 1 Lbz and was broken doing bitework. You would think that given the fact the dog's teeth had been examined many times, it was shown more than 25 times and had a KKL Lbz that there was nothing to worry about. However, when it was extracted by canine dental specialistsSV Kormeister Hans Peter Fetten recommended that I have xrays taken showing that the tooth existed and of the gums showing where it had been, "just in case.", he said. You never know, some judges are unreasonable or illogical. You would have thought, the Germans being a logical people, would worry about this...

At the Sieger Show, I brought those xrays with me. A ring steward during the teeth exam reported the missing tooth to the judge, SV Kormeister Leonhard Schweikert. Schweikert approached me and asked about it. I told him the dog was KKL1 Lbz and asked him if he wished to see the xrays and he said that was not necessary. The dog went V4 the highest HOT dog at the show.

"Just in case" a vet should testify any distraction, and x-ray the hole.
Afterwards send all of it to SV and they will write it on the original pedigree.

Thank you Susie!

I should have added that in addition to the xrays, I had a signed letter from the veterinary surgeon on hospital stationery detailing the extraction and that the tooth had been there.

These dogs do bitework - it's logical to assume that teeth are going to get broken!

Glad you took that precaution. The judges do need to know that the tooth was present at one time.
