A breed book is the book of the club they are registered in.
For Example:
AKC
RKF
VDH
ANKC
UKC
For Example:
AKC
RKF
VDH
ANKC
UKC

The breed book is the initials of the organization with whom the dogs is registered. The breed book number is the number that that organization assigns to that particular dog (it is unique).
For example in the USA,
Breed Book is AKC
Breed Book registration number would be something like DN123456/01
The breed book registration number for GSD's consists of the 6 digit litter registration number followed by the 2 digit individual dog number
