As we all know, there is English Bulldog and APBT blood behind some AB lines.

My research indicates that Barriet's Linda Love Lace and Barriet's Beulah were sired by the APBT Loposay's Eli Bear of War.

I've see High Hopes (EB) and Zydeco Dancer (APBT) in AB pedigrees, how can I link Linda and Beulah to their APBT sire?

Members chose what category they want their dogs in by their breed.
So in this case feel it is best to leave the APBT and AB separate unless
in the future the situation changes.

If you possibly have a pedigree/resource to prove that this is the case we are able to link them together possibly. At this time we do not have any search engines for AB that us as admin have been able to locate.

I'm not suggesting anything that hasn't already been done. Have a look at these two pedigrees:

What kind of resource? This breeding happened long ago and I'm sure you can probably imagine the controversy that accompanies any discussion of crossbreeding.

This database is already littered with dogs entered multiple times. The link that I'm proposing would prevent many more.

by GSDHeritage on 17 September 2017 - 20:09

At this time we are not connecting the 2 breeds no registration numbers
to prove who these dogs are. Members continue to post dogs in both
APBT and AB without the required information. So there is no way of
telling what breed book they were registered or if they were registered.

Can you fill in these dogs with all the correct information required?

I have some of it, I'm working on getting the rest.

Now the situation is this.

"Lets explore the differences between a Bulldog and a Pitbull. Due to their similar physical appearance, American Bulldog and American Pitbull Terrier are often confused. But the truth is that these dogs vary in a number of aspects such as origin and history, behavior, and characteristics. American Bulldog belongs to mastiff group while American Pitbull Terrier belongs to terrier group."

There are several breeds on the PDB that had other breeds to form them but the AB and APBT are 2 different breeds. So to combine them today creates a mixed breed which is not allowed on the PDB.

Do you guys even read this stuff? Bc some of your replies suggest that you don't understand the conversation.

The cross that I'm referring to is NOT something that has recently happened.

It is a breeding that is way in the back of the pedigrees of many many dogs that are currently considered ABs...Just as the EB cross that created Johnson's Sugar Doll 3 (and others) is.

Would it be safe to assume that you consider the High Hopes crosses mixed breed dogs that shouldn't be allowed into the database?

by GSDHeritage on 19 September 2017 - 02:09

Without proof of breed book and registration number there is no proof of what
breed they were in the past. Remember the mastiff and terrier are both involved
creating 2 different breeds. Doubt the Bulldog owners want their dogs to be mixed
with the terrier breed. Again all breeds had another breed in their past to form them
but today once that breed was created they are that breed and should not again be mixed.

Like I said, I'm working on getting the registration numbers. I'm in touch with a couple of registries about this.

What owners want has no effect on history, so I'm not sure why you even mention that....In fact, I'd like to suggest that you are incorrect, and that what owners want is an accurate historical record.

You admit that all breeds have another breed in their past (its just not so distant in the AB), so can you explain to me why there is a problem with the pedigree record reflecting this?

You've ignored every question and statement that I've made regarding High Hopes and Zydeco Dancer. Why is that?

It's becoming abundantly clear that you don't know AB history, you're just a guy that has some "say so" on this site. It's a shame to see such a rich resource mismanaged.
