My brother had been noticing some abnormalities in how his 6 year old male GSD was moving. The other day he started stumbling over his feet so he took him in to vet. Several tests and an MRI later he has been diagnosed with a cystic mass lesion at L6 and they also mentioned lumbosacral stenosis. He is on prednisone and a painkiller (although my brother said it does not seem like he is in pain) and is scheduled to be seen again in two weeks.
Has anyone dealt with anything like this?
I feel bad for my brother. This is his third GSD. His previous two both had inverterbrial disc disease. He had surgery done on his second dog as he didn't want to go through what he did with his first dog. Unfortunately, I think the surgeon botched the surgery as the dog never was able to walk again even with intense physical therapy. He ended up putting him down a couple months after the surgery.
