Hello,

We had a huge family medical emergency that kind of turned our world upside down and are looking to rehome our imported puppy to a good home. Does anyone have any advice, tips, or know of someone that might be interested whom they know will give the puppy the great life she deserves? We never ever planned on rehoming our furbaby so we're at a total loss as to how to proceed.

What questions should I ask for potential owners? What rehoming fee should I charge? Where should I look? Any tips would be wonderful.

avoid persons who will use your pup as a breeding machine.
avoid people who will crate/ kennel your dog all day
avoid people who want a dog to make a statement

I would put details on this forum in the classified section with as much info as you can. Details will help to rehome. Best of luck Nan

Sadly, be prepared to be lied to. There are persons out there who will answer all your questions the way you want to hear, but then go and do the opposite, given the chance. Trust your gut !
Not everybody will be like this; I wish you the very best of luck in finding the pup a good outcome.

PS: you could do a 'home check' on a prospective adopter when you find them, to try to make sure what they offer is what you'll get.
As to the 'fee', that may depend on where you are located and what the rescue orgs are charging at Shelters, as a 'going rate', but try to set it somewhere 'reasonable'; too high & you will just be seen as trying to make money out of a dog you no longer 'want'. Too low and people who really cannot afford to take on a dog and care for it properly may be tempted because it's cheap.

I would call your local rescue for their help if they are legitimate and dependable. They may even know of someone that can help as soon as possible.

Nans, this is a 10 week old puppy...I don't think the OP is going to need to go through a rescue, they ought to be able to sell the pup fairly readily.
