Seriously, though, NICE girls...didn't know you'd done this pairing, looking forward to watching them develop...hopefully you'll share the progression like you did with your Bob Segar and Mark Knopfler litters. So, is this the Ray Charles litter?

Xeph, those are some NICE puppies! I hope you share lots of photos as they grow because I would love to see how the mature. I especially love the expression of your keeper!

Xeph - what was your reasoning for doing such an outcross? I see a difference in type within this litter, which reinforces to me the understanding I have of the results when doing an outcross. Your keeper girl looks quite different from her littermates, so why did you choose her? She looks like a very sturdy girl, with a nice substantial bone and head, and I can see where her plush coat comes from, lol. So where do white patches come from?

I wanted the drive and genetic diversity. Uniformity in aesthetic was not my goal here.

My keeper is actually a coatie o.o. She and Olivier display the traits I'm looking for to progress with. I knew I was unlikely to get AKC style structure from this litter, which is fine. That wasn't the goal.

These puppies are quite outgoing, are extremely social (even more so than my first litters, who were social), love to bite and tug EVERYTHING, and are quite moderate in structure thus far.

We'll see how they grow.

The white is simply residual white.

PS:  Does "residual white" mean is going to go away??  Cause "Rumor" had some white, did not keep her from taking BIS...  Thx  Nan

Good on ya for going in that direction with this litter - it sounds like you have the drive you wished for. Now to see how the judges appraise them in the ring - wish the best of luck with that as I think more people need to do what you have.

They may never see a ring. There are a couple I hope will, but...time will tell.

I haven't been around as long as many, and some things I will never know the way others know them...but I try. My goal is to breed German Shepherd Dogs, not specialists.

It is the hope that one of these girls can be bred to my Strauss dog for performance and service prospects, and I'll see where we go from there.

Right now, all there is to do is wait and enjoy :)
