From what I have read the sea kelp contains a bacteria residing on the kelp surface that chemically destabilize tatar. I like the results that I see.

What I have seen is bright, white clean teeth and healthy gums, even from just the occasional feeding of a leg, wing or thigh in an older dog with previous tarter build up and yellowing of the teeth. Chicken has the perfect ratio of bone to meat, too, for dogs.
Kelp would be like using mouthwash, and raw chicken is like doing a good flossing.
