Your puppy has nice attention and focus, and obviously a desire to connect with his mouth. Thank you for the link, as I enjoyed watching your puppy. And, the bellydancing video that I found just under your video was quite entertaining as well! Bob-O

This video clip was taken last month... The sleeve.. a TOWEL wrap around my arm... which he knew nothing about so I dont think he went on DEFENSE... He was kinda puzzled what I was challenging him to do(actually he figured it out...a challenge)... He's now perked when he sees the towel being wrapped and would not wait for me to finish... I tried offering my bare arm and he will not attempt ... He now thinks that the towel is his, and will try to take it away from my arm... I try to take it away from him to see how determined he is and would really jump so high to try and reach the wrapped towel. He will only quit when I leave him with the puppy sleeve as if he won... Bright kid... I need to AUS him still... He may be dominant, but he has his way showing Puppy love by placing both his front paws on top of my lap while I'm doing kennel chores say washing the pans.

So you are having your pup bite you? I suggest you find a SchH club and seek professional training. Also, when someone is working your pup in prey you should be teaching your pup to bark for the tug.

Marci, I don't want to be negative. I really would like to see you and your puppy suceed but there are MANY things wrong here. It is OK to decoy for your own dog if you know what you are doing, and it is based in prey. I have to be blunt here; you do not know what you are doing yet. There was virtually no prey movement from you. You stood completely still in front of your dog. The fact that you had to kick (even though it was just a tap) to get your dog to bite is not good. While the dog was on the bite, you gave him way to much pressure. Your upper body was almost square to the dog. You were looking him right in the eye and your arm movement was too vigourous. Your ideas and mind set are way off. You don't challenge a young puppy. Why on earth would you attempt to get him to bite a bare arm? Your dog hardly bites, why do you feel the need to make him out? It is clear you like your dog and really want to do bitework. Trust me that I have you, your dog, and your families best interest when I say this..... IF YOU CONTINUE THIS WAY YOU WILL RUIN YOUR DOG!!! The least that will happen is your dog will not do the work. The worst that will happen is your dog will hurt you, someone in your family or the neigbor kid down the street. Please find a club or a trainer who knows what they are doing to help you.

Well said "GetARealDog"

Get a Real Dog, Kudos to you for saying what needs to be said. I did not see the video but just from reading the post I actually said out loud "what the F*&k! are you F--ing kidding me?" @ five months your dog does not even have all the permanent teeth in. Why would you let him bite you and put pressure on him? Not to mention that is way too young! Pressure is the last thing the dog should experience. Teach the dog how to grip, how to move with the helper, how to maintain the bite. There is plenty of time for the pressure. A dog that is taught how to grip and shown the protection work in the proper phases will take all the pressure you want to give it. If it doesnt then you went too fast..to much to soon. I am so stunned I cant event think of what else to type without swearing. BTW, Marci, teaching the aus is just going to be more pressure.

Get A Real Dog said what needed to be said. Quit everything you are doing, or you will ruin your dog. You need to find someone that has experience in this before you go any further.
