Another thread got me wondering how far (hours drive, KM's, miles) you drive to attend a [bite]sport club.

For me, it is just over 4 hrs drive, and a border crossing into another country, to attend the closest IPO club. There is a club in my own country, but it is closer to 4.5 hrs (or more) drive away.

Just wondering how far others go to train at a club.

1 IPO club is 15 min away, another is 25 min away, a third is 45 min away and there are 2 about 2 or more hours away.

My earlier post didn't register, I guess.
3+ hours to a club I didn't like, but there's a closer club I do like that's an hour away.

Club training in the winter is 50 miles and 55 minutes on a good day (usually an hour). Summer training is 38 miles and about 55 minutes. Sometimes go to another location which is 80 miles and 1 hour and 40 minutes or at other times train with a friend who is only 18 miles.

My IPO trainer is about 45 minutes away, 30 something miles each way. There isn't a club local club i want to be part of (IPO)
My Obedience club is 20 minutes from my house, about 6 miles and i'm there twice a week.

First, vonriviera:😛😛😊 Rub it in. You must be in the Mid-East or Southeast region. 😊

I drive 65 miles (about an hour) each way. I bypass two clubs on the way. Two of my club members are an hour north of me and drive down, bypassing 3 clubs. Club members from the south (Oregon) travel up to 2 hours, about 150+ miles each way , and bypass 3 other clubs.

Haha, yeah, some of the replies make me slightly envious.

I love where I'm living - the only drawback right now is the lack of protection dog clubs/training in the area. Consequently, I do not get to a club very often. It will take us longer to get a title but we will not be trialing at our "home field" since we don't have one, so nobody could say that about it lol.

I travel 45 minutes one way right now. However, I have traveled much longer than that to train.
I am very happy with the club I am a member of now.

For me it´s at least 45 minutes one way right now ( several clubs, some better, some worse ), but only because I decided to live "in the woods". Normally you should be at several clubs in 30 minutes or less.

Koots, you are great, not many people would train under these circumstances - and you are right, nobody is able to say that your dogs "only" passed because of home advantage.
